What Is the PMI Construction Professional Credential?UntitledBuilt for the Construction Industry

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist certification for professionals who deliver construction projects, validating your ability to manage contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance across the full construction lifecycle. It is built for construction project managers, site and project engineers, owner's representatives and consultants who want a globally recognised credential for the built environment. Aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the PMBOK Guide, the credential is assessed across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Uniquely among PMI credentials, candidates complete four mandatory self-paced modules before sitting the 120-question exam. With Vietnam's construction output set to grow around 7.9% in 2026 on the back of the North-South high-speed railway, metro lines and record public investment, employers increasingly want proof of construction-specific delivery skill. PMI-CP certification training in Vietnam gives you that edge. Start your PMI-CP journey with Invensis Learning.

Construction Market Forces Driving PMI-CP Demand

    Mega-Rail and Metro Delivery

Vietnam's US$7.7 billion China rail link, North-South high-speed railway and Ho Chi Minh City's eight metro lines demand portfolio-grade contract, risk and coordination skills that PMI-CP is built to develop.

PMI-CP builds contract and risk skills

    Contract and Claims Complexity

FDI and EPC projects run on international contract forms where delay, variation and disruption claims are common. PMI-CP devotes 50% of its exam to contracts management to close this gap.

    PMI-CP builds contract administration skills

    FDI and Industrial Construction Surge

Booming industrial parks, factories and data centres, including Da Nang's US$200 million project, need the standardised, disciplined delivery that certified construction managers provide.

    PMI-CP builds standardised delivery skills

    Construction PM Talent Shortage

With output growing around 7.9% in 2026, Vietnam's demand for skilled construction project managers outpaces supply, making credentialed professionals rare and sought-after.

PMI-CP makes certified managers stand out

    Stakeholder and Regulatory Load

Record public investment brings heavy permitting, community and owner coordination. PMI-CP's stakeholder engagement domain equips managers to keep approvals and relationships on track.

    General

Is the PMI-CP certification worth it in Vietnam?

Yes. With Vietnam's construction output growing around 7.9% in 2026 on the back of rail, metro, industrial and energy megaprojects, employers increasingly value construction-specific credentials. PMI-CP validates contract, stakeholder and governance skills that support senior roles and stronger pay.

What is the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP)?

The PMI-CP is PMI's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to deliver construction projects across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

    Who should take PMI-CP training?

PMI-CP suits construction project managers, site and project engineers moving into project leadership, owner's representatives, programme managers and construction consultants who want a globally recognised, construction-specific project management credential.

    Is PMP required before PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction experience and education. The two are complementary, with PMP validating broad project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can count towards renewal.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in Vietnam?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. It is valued in Vietnam's international and FDI-funded construction markets, where clients and contractors seek globally recognised delivery credentials.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions and mock exams mapped to the four ECO domains, templates, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI application, learner support and a course completion certificate. Request a quote for full inclusions.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Vietnam?

Training fees vary by format and are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for current pricing and group options.

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members. PMI bills the exam in USD and prices can vary by region, so verify current fees on PMI's site. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction firms, developers and project teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment methods are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer support are designed to build readiness across all four domains before you sit the exam. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts.

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination of 120 questions with a duration of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a test centre, based on the PMI-CP ECO and the PMBOK Guide.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains per the official ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts management is the largest area, reflecting its centrality in construction.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all four domains.

What are the prerequisites and mandatory modules for PMI-CP?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced modules (Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management), each awarding 14 PDUs, plus one of three experience and education sets, before applying.

    Course Content

Can I take PMI-CP training without prior experience?

You can attend the training to build knowledge, but to earn PMI-CP you need construction project management experience (24 to 60 months depending on your education) plus the four mandatory modules. Our advisors can help you check your eligibility path.

What topics are covered in PMI-CP training?

The training covers the four ECO domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), plus contract types, claims, risk, scheduling, budgeting and exam strategy.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-CP ECO and Handbook, practice questions, full-length mock exams, templates and topic-wise quizzes to support your preparation across all four domains.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP format, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness before you sit the real exam.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PMI-CP ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide, covering the four domains and their tasks and enablers exactly as PMI defines them.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website or by speaking to a learning advisor. Choose live virtual, classroom or corporate group training, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. See upcoming batches to get started.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and project commitments in Vietnam.

What are the eligibility requirements to earn PMI-CP?

You need to complete the four mandatory modules and meet one of three sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

Does this training meet the 35-hour education requirement?

The programme provides construction project management contact hours towards PMI's 35-hour education requirement. As formats vary, confirm with our advisors whether supplementary self-study is credited to reach the full 35 hours.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange this and confirm the terms that apply to your enrolment.
