Skills You Will Build Across Both LevelsApplied Change Skills for the Workplace

This section answers what you will learn in the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner course: how to manage the people and culture side of change from diagnosis through to embedding. By the end, you can apply recognised change models to real organisational scenarios and sit both exams with confidence.

    Guide Individuals Through Change

Learn how people experience change and apply individual models including ADKAR and Bridges' Transition Model, along with motivation and resilience, to support people through endings, uncertainty and new beginnings.

Lead Change at the Organisational Level

Select and apply organisational models such as Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model and McKinsey 7-S, and assess culture and readiness to shape the right change approach for the situation.

    Engage Stakeholders and Communicate Change

Identify and analyse stakeholders, build engagement strategies, plan change communication and use influence and persuasion to manage resistance through dialogue rather than force.

Plan and Deliver Change in Practice

Carry out change impact assessments, build a full change management plan covering communication, training, resistance and benefits, and use practical tools to embed and sustain new ways of working.

    Apply Personal and Professional Management

Develop emotional intelligence, coaching and facilitation skills, manage yourself and ethical dilemmas under pressure, and use the CMBoK to guide your ongoing professional development.

    Master Both Exams with Confidence

Practise the closed-book, single-answer Foundation format and the open-book, scenario-based Practitioner technique, so you can navigate the Practitioner Guide efficiently under timed conditions.

    Exam

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice, single-answer questions and lasts 40 minutes. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 50%, meaning 25 out of 50 correct. It is typically taken at the end of the Foundation part of the training.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, and lasts 2.5 hours. It is open book, with the Change Management Practitioner Guide permitted. The pass mark is 50%, meaning 40 out of 80 marks.

What is the passing score for each exam?

Both exams require 50% to pass. For Foundation that is 25 out of 50 questions correct. For Practitioner that is 40 out of 80 marks across the five scenario-based sections. You must pass both to hold both credentials.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the Change Management Practitioner Guide during the exam. However, the scenario-based sections need analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient navigation of the guide and solid method knowledge are both essential, and our technique sessions build both.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam you did not pass. Our trainers provide first-attempt guidance, mock exams and targeted revision to help you clear both the Foundation and Practitioner exams. Confirm the current re-sit policy and any fees with a learning advisor.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

The programme covers five syllabus areas: Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation builds knowledge, and Practitioner develops applied, scenario-based skill.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. The Foundation level has no prerequisites and starts from core concepts, so beginners are welcome. The combined programme then builds you up to applied Practitioner level through guided scenarios, so no prior change management qualification is needed.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes Foundation and Practitioner practice questions, mock exams and scenario-based exercises. These help you identify weak areas, rehearse the open-book technique and build readiness for both exams.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi, the Change Management Practitioner Guide, and the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) maintained by the Change Management Institute.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

On completing the training you receive a course completion certificate. On passing each exam you receive the official Change Management Foundation and Change Management Practitioner digital certificates and designations.
