    General

What is the Business Analysis Foundation and Practitioner certification?

The Business Analysis Foundation and Practitioner (BA F&P) is a two-level EXIN qualification, developed in partnership with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Foundation validates your knowledge of business analysis concepts, while Practitioner proves you can apply BA techniques in realistic project scenarios.

Who should take this business analysis course?

It suits aspiring business analysts, IT professionals moving into BA roles, project managers, product owners and practising analysts formalising their skills. There are no formal prerequisites for the Foundation level, so it is open to all.

Is the certification recognised in Canada?

Yes. EXIN operates in over 165 countries and BCS is the UK's chartered professional body for IT, so the credential is globally recognised. Canadian employers in banking, insurance, consulting and technology value structured, BCS-aligned business analysis skills.

What career benefits does this certification offer?

It positions you for roles from Business Analyst to Senior, Lead and Business Analysis Manager. With business analyst pay in Canada averaging around C$96,000 and strong 2026 demand across finance and tech, certified analysts stand out to employers.

How long is the certification valid?

Both the Foundation and Practitioner certifications are for lifetime. Neither credential expires, and there is no renewal, re-examination or continuing education requirement.

    Pricing

Is the Business Analysis certification worth the investment?

For most learners, yes. The dual credential opens roles across Canada's in-demand banking, insurance and technology sectors, where certified analysts command strong salaries. You gain lifetime certifications and applied skills you use immediately. Talk to a learning advisor about your goals.

How much does the training cost in Canada?

Training fees vary by format, such as live virtual, classroom or corporate group delivery. Pricing for Canada is available on request. Contact us for a tailored quote and current schedules.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes EXIN BCS aligned courseware, case studies, practice questions and mock exams for both levels, and learner support. Exam voucher inclusion is available on request. Ask an advisor to confirm what your enrolment covers.

Are the exam fees included in the training price?

EXIN exam pricing varies by region and purchasing channel, and the combined package is usually arranged through an accredited training provider. Confirm whether Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers are bundled when you request your quote.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for analyst teams, PMOs and change functions across Canada. Contact us for a group quote.

    Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

There are two separate exams: the EXIN BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis and the EXIN BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practice. You must pass both to hold both credentials.

What is the format of each exam?

Both exams have 40 questions and last 60 minutes, closed book. The Foundation exam uses single-answer multiple-choice questions, while the Practitioner exam uses scenario-based multiple-choice questions that require you to apply BA techniques.

What is the passing score for the exams?

The passing score is 65% for both exams, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct. Broad mastery across the topic areas is the best way to prepare for both levels.

Do I need to pass Foundation before Practitioner?

The EXIN BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level. The combined programme is designed to be taken sequentially, Foundation first and then Practitioner.

Where can I sit the exams and what if I do not pass?

You can take both exams online through EXIN's proctored system or at an accredited testing location, usually arranged through your training provider. If you need to resit, we guide you on the process; confirm current resit policy at exin.com.

    Course Content

Can a beginner take this course without prior experience?

Yes. The Foundation level has no prerequisites and starts from core concepts, so beginners can follow it comfortably. Hands-on exercises and case studies build your confidence before the applied Practitioner content.

What topics does the training cover?

Foundation covers 14 topic areas including investigation techniques, requirements engineering, stakeholder analysis, business process modelling and the business case. Practitioner applies these across seven areas, from strategic context to identifying solutions and building the business case.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive EXIN BCS aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies, and practice questions and mock exams for both the Foundation and Practitioner levels, supported by experienced trainers throughout the programme.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest syllabus?

Yes. The course is aligned to the current EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BCS BoK), so you study to the standard both exams are based on.

Are there practical exercises and mock exams?

Yes. The programme uses real-world case studies and hands-on modelling exercises, plus practice questions and mock exams for both levels, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness for the scenario-based Practitioner exam.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?
