Is the PfMP worth it for professionals in Calgary?

Is the PfMP recognised internationally?

Do I need a PMP or PgMP before the PfMP?

How long is the PfMP valid and how do I renew it?

PfMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

How much is the PfMP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee in USD under regional pricing, for reference around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members. PMI individual membership, around USD 139 a year, lowers the exam fee. Confirm current amounts on pmi.org before applying.

What if I do not pass the PfMP exam the first time?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, simulator and trainer support are designed to build readiness before your first sitting.

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are scenario-based and spread across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing standard, so results are reported against each domain rather than as a fixed percentage.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), all aligned to the 4th Edition standard.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

Anyone can enrol in the training, and it is built for experienced professionals. To sit the exam, PMI requires substantial business and portfolio management experience, which our advisors can help you assess before you apply.

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five performance domains: Strategic Alignment, Governance, Portfolio Performance, Portfolio Risk Management and Communications Management, plus PfMP application guidance, panel-review preparation and exam strategy.

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build readiness across all five domains.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PfMP exam?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 120 months of business experience and 84 months of portfolio management experience; with a four-year degree, 120 and 48 months; a GAC-accredited degree reduces the portfolio requirement to 36 months, all within the last 15 years.

What training formats are available?
