What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

Is a PMP required before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do also carry a PMP, as the two credentials are highly complementary.

How does the PMI-RMP differ from the PMP?

The PMP is a broad project management credential covering all knowledge areas, with risk as one component. The PMI-RMP specialises entirely in project risk: strategy, identification, analysis, response and monitoring. Professionals often pursue it to show advanced risk expertise alongside a PMP.

Is the PMI-RMP recognised in Costa Rica?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers in Costa Rica and worldwide. It is especially valued by the shared-services centres, medical device makers, banks and technology firms in the free trade zones, where formal project risk management is expected.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in Costa Rica?

Training fees vary by format, whether live virtual, classroom or corporate, and by the resources included. The value lies in a supported, PMI-aligned path to a globally recognised credential. Pricing is available on request; talk to a learning advisor for a quote that fits your goals.

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours, practice questions and mock exams, downloadable templates, application guidance and learner support, plus a course completion certificate. Request a quote for the exact inclusions on your chosen format.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org. Membership can lower both the exam fee and renewal costs.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and a time limit of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book, using single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions, delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the five PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

Per the ECO effective January 2022, the five domains are Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get for the exam?

You may attempt the exam up to three times within the one-year eligibility period that begins when your application is approved. If needed, reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can take it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your eligibility window.

Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five risk domains from the ECO effective January 2022: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It includes qualitative and quantitative tools and covers predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest exam outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, which is based on PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide.

Does the training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

The programme provides 32 contact hours of risk management education, which fully meets the 30-hour requirement for candidates with a bachelor's degree or a GAC-accredited degree. Candidates applying with a secondary diploma need 40 hours and should add supplementary study.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes aligned to the 115-question format, helping you find weak areas and build exam readiness before test day.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

You can enrol in the training at any experience level, and the sessions are structured to build understanding step by step. To sit the PMI-RMP exam, PMI does require documented project risk management experience, which our advisors can help you review.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the exam?

PMI offers three sets: a secondary diploma with 36 months of risk experience and 40 education hours; a bachelor's degree with 24 months and 30 hours; or a GAC-accredited degree with 12 months and 30 hours. Risk experience must fall within the last five years.
