Is the PgMP recognised in Costa Rica?

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. A PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of eight PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

How much does PgMP training cost in Costa Rica?

PgMP training fees in Costa Rica vary by format and provider and are available on request. The fee covers instructor-led sessions, courseware and preparation support; the PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote or speak with a learning advisor for current pricing.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam-strategy sessions, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, and learner support with a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is not part of the training fee.

How much is the PgMP exam fee?

PMI bills the PgMP exam fee in USD, for reference around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members. PMI individual membership is roughly USD 139 per year and can lower the exam and renewal costs. Confirm current fees on pmi.org before applying.

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across five performance domains and is delivered online or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is a closed-book exam using single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Program Life Cycle Management carries the most weight.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass, can I retake the exam?

Yes. PMI allows up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that begins when your application is approved. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts, so confirm the current amounts on pmi.org.

Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application preparation, panel-review guidance and exam strategy.

What are the eligibility requirements for PgMP?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or a PMP) plus 84 months of programme management experience; with a four-year degree the programme requirement drops to 48 months, and a GAC-accredited degree reduces it further. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline and the fourth edition of the Standard for Program Management, so what you study reflects what PMI tests.

What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, a Standard for Program Management overview, templates, flashcards and topic-wise quizzes to support your preparation.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned, which count toward your PMI application and professional development.
