    The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level project management credential. It proves you understand the fundamental terminology, processes and principles of project management. It is designed for students, recent graduates, career changers and project team members, and needs no prior work experience.

    Is the CAPM worth it in Costa Rica?

    Yes. CAPM opens entry-level project roles and is recognised by the 350+ multinationals and local employers operating in Costa Rica. Certified coordinators earn around 12.3M colones a year, with analyst and project roles paying more as you progress. Talk to a learning advisor about your career goals.

    Do I need work experience to take the CAPM?

    No. CAPM is the only PMI practitioner credential that requires no project management work experience. You need a secondary degree, such as a high school diploma or global equivalent, plus at least 23 hours of project management education, which this training provides.

    How long is the CAPM certification valid?

    CAPM is valid for three years from the date of certification. Unlike PMP, you renew CAPM by retaking and passing the exam within the three-year cycle rather than by earning PDUs.

    Is the CAPM recognised internationally?

    Yes. As a PMI credential, CAPM carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. Employers value it as a credible entry-level project management credential and a signal of commitment to the profession.

    What is the format of the CAPM exam?

    The CAPM exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and a duration of three hours. It is closed book and delivered through Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023.

    What does the CAPM exam cover?

    The exam covers four domains from the 2023 ECO: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%). The training prepares you across all four.

    Is there a fixed passing score for CAPM?

    No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Your result is reported as pass or fail with performance feedback across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery of all of them.

    How many attempts do I get for the exam?

    You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that begins when your application is approved.

    What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

    You can retake the exam up to three times within your one-year eligibility window. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer guidance are designed to help you strengthen weak areas and prepare with confidence before you sit again.

    What will I learn in the CAPM training?

    You will learn project management fundamentals, predictive plan-based delivery, agile and hybrid frameworks, and business analysis essentials, along with stakeholder engagement and performance reporting. The content maps to the four CAPM exam domains.

    Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

    No. The course is beginner-friendly and built for those new to project management. Trainers introduce terminology step by step and use practical examples, so students, graduates and career changers can follow comfortably.

    Which standard and edition is the course based on?

    The course is aligned to the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023 and built on the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the PMI Agile Practice Guide, so your preparation reflects the current exam basis.
