PgMP is valid for three years. You maintain it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 multiple-choice questions with a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book and delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

What standard is the PgMP exam based on?

The exam follows the PgMP Examination Content Outline, aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and its five programme management performance domains.

What is the passing score, and what if I do not pass?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage, with domain-level feedback. You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period; re-examination fees apply to later attempts.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

PgMP has three eligibility sets. With a four-year degree you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 48 months of programme management experience; a secondary diploma requires 84 months of programme experience. All must fall within the past 15 years.
