Why Programme Leaders Are in Demand Across Edmonton

    Energy Transition Complexity

Alberta's energy sector is running large decarbonisation, value-added processing and renewable programmes that demand portfolio-grade prioritisation, risk aggregation and cross-project coordination.

    PgMP builds programme coordination skills

    Record Infrastructure Investment

A CA$28.3B provincial capital plan across schools, hospitals and utilities calls for programme-level governance and benefits tracking that few project-only managers can provide.

PgMP builds governance and benefits skills

    Governance Maturity Gap

Many Edmonton enterprises run dozens of concurrent projects without a strategy-aligned programme layer, the exact gap the PgMP is built to close.

    PgMP builds strategic alignment skills

    Programme Talent Scarcity

Alberta's PM pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed programme managers. The PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PgMP makes certified leaders stand out

    Public-Sector Delivery Pressure

The Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services deliver multi-project programmes under tight scrutiny, requiring strong governance, stakeholder engagement and benefits realisation.

    PgMP builds stakeholder engagement skills

    Capital-Efficiency Pressure

Energy price cycles and capital discipline push organisations to optimise their programmes, retiring low-value work and rebalancing investment toward strategic benefits.

In Alberta these senior roles command strong salary bands, and credentialed programme leaders remain in short supply relative to demand.

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least eight PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost in Edmonton?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider, so pricing is available on request for live virtual, classroom and corporate options in Edmonton. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Talk to a learning advisor for full inclusions.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members). PMI membership, roughly USD 139 per year, lowers the exam fee. Confirm current fees on the PMI store.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts for PgMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, business units and leadership teams across Edmonton and Alberta. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are distributed across five performance domains and delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. The five domains are Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented programme experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass, can I retake the PgMP exam?

Yes. PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts on the PMI store.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers PMI's five programme management performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application, panel-review and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training aligned to?

The training is aligned to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO). The 4th Edition and the ECO define the domains, tasks and enablers tested in the exam.

Are practice tests, mock exams and assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the PgMP Examination Content Outline, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 84 months of programme management experience. With a four-year degree the programme requirement drops to 48 months, and a GAC-accredited degree reduces both to 36 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. The PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help selecting a batch.

What training formats are available for the PgMP?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style in Edmonton or across Alberta.

How soon can I start the PgMP training?

New batches run regularly across live virtual and classroom formats, so you can usually start within a few weeks. See upcoming schedules or speak with a learning advisor to confirm the next available cohort.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?
