What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PgMP worth it for program leaders in Halifax?

Yes. The PgMP positions you for senior roles such as Program Manager, Head of PMO and PMO Director, which command strong salary bands in Halifax. With defence, ocean technology and financial services employers running large portfolios of projects, credentialed program leaders are in demand and often earn a clear premium.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. A PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their program management experience.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three sets. Set A: a secondary diploma with 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 84 months of program management experience. Sets B and C reduce the program experience to 48 or 36 months with a degree. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. How much does PgMP training cost in Halifax?

What happens if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass on the first attempt.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 multiple-choice questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book and delivered in a single sitting.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

How is the PgMP exam scored?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where can I take the PgMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through the Pearson VUE website or PMI's portal within your eligibility window.

Which standard is the PgMP exam based on?

The exam is based on the current PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Our courseware follows this 4th edition and the five ECO performance domains.
