Yes. Norwegian employers in energy, manufacturing, seafood and services value data-driven process improvement skills, especially as cost pressure and a tight labour market push productivity. Green Belt roles such as Process Improvement Engineer and Quality Manager command strong salaries across the country.

Green Belt training suits quality engineers, process and operations professionals, analysts and anyone who supports or leads improvement projects. There are no formal prerequisites, so professionals moving up from a Yellow Belt or new to Lean Six Sigma can both enrol.

No. The Green Belt has no mandatory prerequisites, so you can start without a Yellow Belt or prior certification. Some process or project experience helps you apply the tools, but the training builds the concepts from the ground up.

The Green Belt certification holds current status for three years from the date you certify. To stay current, you pass a shorter recertification exam before the three-year period elapses.

Green Belt is the intermediate practitioner level that supports or leads scoped improvement projects, while Black Belt covers the same DMAIC phases at greater statistical depth and leads complex projects. Many professionals earn Green Belt first, then progress to Black Belt.

Is the exam fee included in the training fee?

No. The Green Belt exam voucher is purchased separately and billed in USD, with the price varying by region. The training fee covers your preparation, courseware and learner support. Ask a learning advisor for the latest exam fee.

    Exam

What is the format of the Green Belt exam?

The exam is closed book with 100 multiple-choice and true or false questions. Some forms include up to 10 additional unscored questions. It covers all five DMAIC phases at roughly equal weight.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 100 questions and a three-hour allotted time. Some exam forms add up to 10 unscored pretest questions that do not count toward your result.

What is the passing score for the Green Belt exam?

You need a minimum of 385 points out of 550 to pass. Questions are spread across the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control phases, so aim for broad mastery rather than a single area.

How and where do I take the exam?

You can sit the exam online with on-demand proctoring available 24/7, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Both options are available to candidates in Norway.

Are there any prerequisites to sit the exam?

No. The Green Belt exam has no mandatory education, experience or training prerequisites. Training and real-world practice are recommended but not required to register.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can retake the exam by purchasing another voucher. Our training includes mock exams and practice questions to build readiness, and trainers help you target weak DMAIC phases before you resit.

    Course Content

What topics does the Green Belt training cover?

The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. You learn process mapping, measurement system analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, designed experiments, statistical process control and Lean tools such as 5S, Kanban and Poka-Yoke.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to run a scoped improvement project end to end, using data to reduce defects, waste and cycle time. You will apply DMAIC tools, interpret process statistics and sustain gains with control plans.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the Green Belt exam format, so you can identify weak areas and build confidence before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest Body of Knowledge?

Yes. The courseware follows the current IASSC Green Belt Body of Knowledge across all five DMAIC phases, including the core statistics and Lean tools that distinguish Green Belt from Yellow Belt.

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes. The training builds concepts from the basics, so beginners and those without a Yellow Belt can follow along. Hands-on examples and practice help you apply each tool, even if statistics are new to you.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate confirming your training hours, which also supports your readiness for the Green Belt exam.
