    General

What is the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification?

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is an advanced credential from IASSC that validates your ability to lead complex improvement projects across all five DMAIC phases. It covers advanced statistics, Lean tools and project leadership, and the professional designation awarded is IASSC-CBB.

Is the Black Belt certification worth it in Norway?

Yes. In Norway's high-cost economy, operational excellence directly protects margins, so certified Black Belts are valued across energy, manufacturing, seafood and public services. Roles such as continuous improvement and operations manager average around kr 950,000 to kr 990,000 a year.

Who should take the Black Belt course?

No. There are no formal prerequisites: no education requirement, no work experience and no prior certification. Training and real-world project experience are strongly recommended but not mandatory.

How long is the Black Belt certification valid?

The certification holds Current status for three years from the date you certify. To maintain it, you pass the recertification exam before the elapse date, or within 90 days after, to renew for another three years.

What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

The exam is closed book with 150 multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions. A reference document of formulas and tables is provided for use during the exam.

How long is the exam and what is the passing score?

What is the exam application process?

After preparing, you can take an optional non-proctored evaluation exam to check readiness, then purchase the exam voucher from the IASSC orders site and choose your delivery mode. You schedule and sit the proctored exam, and on passing you receive a certificate, digital badge and a listing in the official register.
