What Is the PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification?UntitledYour Route to Leading Controlled Projects

PRINCE2 Practitioner certification training in Japan prepares experienced project managers to apply and tailor the PRINCE2 method to real project scenarios. The PRINCE2 Practitioner (PRINCE2-P) is the advanced credential in the AXELOS PRINCE2 scheme, owned and examined by PeopleCert, and built on the PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) Managing Successful Projects manual. The course takes you beyond the Foundation level into judgement and decision-making: applying the seven principles, tailoring the seven practices and running the seven processes across realistic, multi-stage projects. PRINCE2 Version 7 also brings the People capability, sustainability and ESG, and digital and data management into scope, reflecting how projects are actually governed today. Across Japan, where a projected shortfall of certified project talent meets a national push for digital transformation, a recognised project management credential helps you stand out. Start your PRINCE2 Practitioner journey with Invensis Learning and move from study to certified with a clear, supported path.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Japan, approved to deliver official PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification training using accredited courseware and standards.

What Is Fuelling Demand for Certified Project Leaders in Japan

    Widening IT Talent Shortfall

METI projects a shortfall of around 220,000 IT professionals by 2026, so employers compete hard for project managers who can deliver complex work reliably with a proven method.

    PRINCE2 builds tailored delivery capability

    DX and Society 5.0 Pressure

Corporate DX mandates and the Society 5.0 agenda push organisations to run more digital projects at once, raising the need for structured governance and continued business justification.

PRINCE2 embeds business justification and control

    Legacy Modernisation Complexity

Digitising decades-old analog processes creates large, high-risk programmes where managing by stages and by exception keeps delivery on track and protects value.

PRINCE2 builds stage control and risk skills

    Cross-Border Project Governance

Japanese multinationals coordinate projects across regions and vendors, and a shared, tailorable method reduces friction and aligns teams on roles, plans and reporting.

PRINCE2 gives teams a common method

    Demographic and Resource Constraints

With the working-age population shrinking, organisations must do more with fewer people, so predictable, well-governed delivery becomes a genuine competitive advantage.

    PRINCE2 improves delivery predictability

    Rising Sustainability and ESG Demands

Investors and regulators expect projects to account for environmental and social impact, and PRINCE2 Version 7 brings sustainability and ESG into the business case and plans.

    After PRINCE2

    Before

Project authority resting on experience alone, not a recognised method

    Before

Stuck at delivery level with no formal governance mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into senior project manager, programme manager and PMO roles

    Before

    Now you have

The skills employers want: tailoring, business justification, risk and stage control

    Before

Recognition that fades when you change employer or project type

    Now you have

A method that travels across sectors, vendors and borders

Learned to Tailor, Not Just Recall

"The scenario-based practice made all the difference. I learned to navigate the manual quickly and tailor the practices, which is exactly what the open-book Practitioner exam tests. I passed on my first sitting and now lead projects with far more structure."

Great Bridge from PMP to PRINCE2

"Coming from a PMP background, I wanted a method recognised on our European projects. The trainers explained PRINCE2 7 clearly and the People and sustainability topics were genuinely new to me. Well-paced and very practical."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PRINCE2 Practitioner validates your ability to apply and tailor PRINCE2 principles, practices and processes to a given project scenario. It is designed for practising and aspiring project managers, PRINCE2 Foundation holders, and PMP or CAPM holders who want to manage projects using PRINCE2 7.

    General

What is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification and who is it for?

PRINCE2 Practitioner validates your ability to apply and tailor PRINCE2 principles, practices and processes to a given project scenario. It is designed for practising and aspiring project managers, PRINCE2 Foundation holders, and PMP or CAPM holders who want to manage projects using PRINCE2 7.

Is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification worth it in Japan?

Yes. As Japan digitises legacy processes against a projected shortfall of around 220,000 IT professionals by 2026, employers value project managers who can deliver reliably with a recognised method. Senior project and PMO roles command strong salary bands, so the credential supports both mobility and earning potential.

Is PRINCE2 Practitioner recognised in Japan?

Yes. PRINCE2 is a globally recognised method owned and examined by PeopleCert, operating in over 200 countries. It is valued across Japan by IT services, consulting, BFSI and manufacturing employers, and is especially useful on cross-border projects with European and Commonwealth partners.

How is Practitioner different from PRINCE2 Foundation?

Foundation is a closed-book exam that tests knowledge of the method. Practitioner is open book and scenario-based, testing your ability to apply and tailor PRINCE2 in realistic projects. Foundation, or an accepted equivalent such as PMP or CAPM, is the prerequisite for Practitioner.

How long is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification valid?

PRINCE2 Practitioner is valid for three years. You can renew by retaking and passing the Practitioner exam, by completing CPD through a PeopleCert MyAxelos subscription, or by passing a higher-level PRINCE2 qualification.

    Pricing

How much does PRINCE2 Practitioner training cost in Japan?

Training and exam bundles vary by format and delivery mode, so pricing is available on request. Ask a learning advisor for a current quote, and note that the exam fee is billed separately by PeopleCert.

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes accredited, PeopleCert-aligned courseware, scenario-based practice, mock exams, revision support and learner support through to the exam. Confirm the exact inclusions for your chosen format when you request a quote.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

It depends on the package. Some bundles include the PeopleCert exam voucher, while others price training and exam separately. Ask a learning advisor which option applies to your enrolment.

Are government reskilling subsidies available in Japan?

Japan's METI Reskilling Support Fund can subsidise a large share of tuition for eligible certified training, reportedly up to 70 percent for mid-career workers. Eligibility and rates change, so confirm current terms with the relevant scheme before enrolling.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project teams and PMOs. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

The exam is open book and scenario-based, using objective test questions including multiple choice, matching, sequencing and assertion-reason formats. The Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted, but questions require analysis and judgement rather than simple look-up.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The Practitioner exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, and you have 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) to complete it. It is delivered online via PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for the exam?

You need 60 percent to pass, which is 42 out of 70 marks. Because questions are scenario-based, broad mastery across the syllabus and efficient manual navigation both matter.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the PRINCE2 7th Edition Managing Successful Projects manual during the exam. However, questions test how you apply and tailor the method to scenarios, so you cannot simply look up answers. Effective manual navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the Practitioner exam. Selected training packages include revision support and retake options to help you prepare again. Confirm the current re-sit policy with PeopleCert and ask us about retake support when you enrol.

    Course Content

What topics does the PRINCE2 Practitioner training cover?

The training covers the nine Practitioner syllabus areas: principles, practices, processes, key roles and responsibilities, people management, sustainability and ESG, digital and data management, communication, and tailoring, all applied through realistic project scenarios.

Do I need prior experience or Foundation to attend?

To sit the Practitioner exam you need PRINCE2 Foundation or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA. There is no formal work-experience requirement, though the course is designed for practising or aspiring project managers.

Which edition of PRINCE2 is the training based on?

The training is based on PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023), the current version published by PeopleCert and AXELOS. It reflects the 7th edition additions, including the People capability, sustainability and ESG, and digital and data management.

Are practice materials and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes scenario-based practice questions, full-length mock exams and revision support to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the open-book format.

    What learning formats are available?

You can choose online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, or customised corporate group training. Each format follows the current PRINCE2 7 syllabus and uses accredited courseware.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the PRINCE2 Practitioner course in Japan?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

What are the prerequisites to sit the exam?

You must hold PRINCE2 Foundation or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA Level A/B/C/D before sitting Practitioner. Anyone can attend the training, and we can advise on the best route if you do not yet hold a prerequisite.

What training schedules and modes are available?

We offer weekday and weekend batches in live online and classroom formats, plus corporate group training scheduled around your team. See upcoming schedules or ask an advisor for the next available cohort in your time zone.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans allow you to attend the training again. Contact support to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations follow our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
