What Is Microsoft Project and What Will You Do with It?UntitledThe Industry-Standard Scheduling Tool

Microsoft Project Training in Japan gives project professionals the practical skills to plan, schedule, resource and track projects using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Corporation's industry-standard project scheduling application. It is a hands-on, software-focused programme, so you learn by building real schedules rather than studying theory. Microsoft Project is used worldwide to create work breakdown structures, link task dependencies, assign resources, set baselines and report progress through Gantt charts. It is available as a desktop application (Standard and Professional) and as Microsoft Project Online, the cloud version within Microsoft 365. The training runs at two levels: Fundamentals (2 days, 16 hours) for new or occasional users, and Advanced (3 days, 24 hours) for experienced users who want to master resource levelling, cost and earned value tracking, custom reporting and multi-project programme management. The course suits project managers, coordinators, planners, schedulers and PMO professionals across Japan's construction, IT, engineering and manufacturing sectors. Build the software proficiency employers expect, then start applying it to your own project plans with Invensis Learning.

What You Gain from Learning Microsoft ProjectSkills You Can Use from Day One

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

This training helps you move from managing projects in spreadsheets to running structured, dependency-linked schedules in Microsoft Project. You learn by doing, following the trainer step by step through realistic project scenarios until the software feels natural. Whether you are new to the tool or already use it occasionally, you build the practical scheduling, resourcing and tracking skills that project roles in Japan increasingly expect.

By the end you can create a plan, assign and balance resources, baseline it, track progress and report status, capabilities you can put to work the very next day. The Advanced level extends this to resource levelling, earned value and multi-project programme management for experienced practitioners.

    • Plan and schedule projects confidently using the tool most employers already run
    • Build professional Gantt charts, task dependencies and realistic project baselines
    • Assign and level resources to spot over-allocation before it derails delivery
    • Track actual progress and schedule variance so you can report status clearly
    • Manage costs and earned value at the Advanced level for tighter budget control
    • Consolidate multiple schedules into master projects for programme-level control
    • Stand out for planner, scheduler and PMO roles across Japanese industry
    • Apply your skills immediately, with no exam to sit and no renewal to maintain
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group training equips your project teams and PMO with a common, practical way of working in Microsoft Project. Delivered for departments, project offices or whole delivery functions, it closes the gap between how different people plan and report. For organisations running larger or more complex portfolios, a shared scheduling standard improves visibility, coordination and control across every project.

When teams plan and track the same way, status reporting becomes consistent, resource clashes surface earlier, and leadership gets a clearer view of delivery. Corporate sessions are especially effective because participants work on your own real project plans during the exercises.

    • Standardise how teams plan, schedule and report across every project
    • Give your PMO a shared Microsoft Project method for consistent governance
    • Improve resource visibility and reduce over-allocation across the portfolio
    • Strengthen cost and earned value tracking for tighter budget control
    • Tailor training to your own project data during hands-on exercises
    • Deliver onsite, live virtual or blended to suit team availability in Japan
    • Build in-house scheduling capability instead of relying on a few experts

Skills You Will Build in Microsoft ProjectPractical Capabilities for Real Plans

This hands-on training builds real Microsoft Project capability, from creating your first schedule to running earned value and multi-project reporting. By the end you can plan, resource, track and report on projects using the industry-standard scheduling tool.

    Build and Structure the Schedule

Create a project file, configure calendars, and build a work breakdown structure with summary tasks, subtasks, milestones and realistic durations, so your plan is organised and easy to follow from the start.

Link Tasks and Read the Critical Path

Connect tasks with Finish-to-Start and other dependency types, apply lag and lead time, and use the critical path to see which activities drive the finish date and where the real schedule risk sits.

    Create and Assign Resources

Set up work, material and cost resources, assign them to tasks with the right units, and identify over-allocation early so your plan reflects the people and equipment you actually have available.

    Set Baselines and Track Progress

Baseline the approved plan, record actual progress with percent complete and actual values, and use the Tracking Gantt and variance tables to report clearly on what is ahead, on track or slipping.

    Manage Cost and Earned Value

At the Advanced level, plan and track costs, level resources, and calculate earned value metrics such as SPI and CPI to measure schedule and budget performance with confidence.

    Report and Run Multiple Projects

Build custom views, tables and visual reports, and consolidate several plans into a master project with cross-project links for programme-level reporting and resource coordination across a portfolio.
