It is an intermediate Lean Six Sigma credential from the International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC). It provides independent, third-party validation of your knowledge across the five DMAIC phases at an intermediate level, including core statistics and Lean tools.

Who should take Green Belt training?

It suits quality engineers, production and operations staff, quality analysts and anyone who supports or leads scoped improvement projects. It also fits professionals moving up from a Yellow Belt foundation or planning to progress towards Black Belt.

Do I need work experience or prior qualifications?

No. IASSC sets no prerequisites for the Green Belt. Training and real-world experience are recommended but not mandatory, so beginners and experienced professionals alike can enrol.

How long is the Green Belt certification valid?

IASSC certification holds Current status for three years from the date of certification. To stay Current, you pass a recertification exam before the elapse date or within 90 days after it.

What is the format of the Green Belt exam?

The IASSC Green Belt exam is closed book with multiple-choice and true or false questions across the five DMAIC phases. It can be taken online with proctoring on demand, or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 100 questions and a three-hour time allowance. Some forms include up to 10 additional unscored questions that do not count towards your result.

What is the passing score for the Green Belt exam?

You need a minimum of 385 points out of 550 to pass. Questions are spread roughly evenly across the Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control phases, so aim for broad mastery.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the IASSC exam by purchasing another voucher. Our training includes mock exams and practice questions designed around the exam format to help you prepare thoroughly and pass with confidence. Ask a learning advisor about prep support.

How do I keep the certification current?

To maintain Current status, pass the IASSC recertification exam within three years. It has 75 questions, a two-hour allowance and a minimum 70% passing score, with up to two attempts allowed.

What topics does the Green Belt training cover?

The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. You learn core statistics, hypothesis testing, basic regression, measurement system analysis, process capability, Lean tools and statistical process control.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no prerequisites, and trainers build statistical concepts up from the basics. Hands-on practice and worked examples mean professionals from the production floor or service roles can follow comfortably.

Is there hands-on practice included?

Yes. The programme applies DMAIC tools to real or simulated improvement scenarios, with exercises, quizzes and practice questions so you can apply the methods at work, not just pass the exam.

Is the courseware aligned with the IASSC body of knowledge?

Yes. The courseware is mapped to the IASSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge across the five DMAIC phases, so what you study matches what the exam assesses.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after meeting the course requirements. The IASSC credential itself is awarded separately once you pass the official exam.
