You receive a Course Completion Certificate from Invensis Learning after finishing the one-day programme. It records your training; it is not an external credential, as VSM has no awarding body.

How is my learning assessed?

Through practical mapping exercises and group discussion rather than a formal test. You build both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic scenario during the training.

Will I be able to run a VSM workshop afterwards?

Yes. You will be able to select a product family, run a Gemba walk, draw current and future-state maps, and build an implementation plan for your own operations.

Does the completion certificate expire?

No. The skills do not expire and there is no renewal requirement. Value Stream Mapping is immediately and lastingly applicable in your workplace.

Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

Six modules: Lean foundations and VSM, standard VSM symbols and notation, creating the current-state map, analysing it for waste, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning.

How long is the Value Stream Mapping training?

It runs as one day (8 hours), and can also be delivered as two half-days. The full VSM process is covered, with hands-on mapping exercises throughout.

Will I practise mapping during the course?

Yes. You create both a current-state and a future-state value stream map for a realistic operational scenario, using the standard VSM symbol set.

What Lean concepts will I learn?

The five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value-added versus non-value-added activity, takt time, cycle time, push versus pull, and the Kaizen burst.

Is the training relevant beyond manufacturing?

Yes. VSM applies in food and pharmaceutical production, logistics, healthcare, financial services and IT, anywhere materials or information flow to a customer.
