    What is the format of the PfMP exam?

    The PfMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are scenario-based and span five performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) time limit. It is delivered through Pearson VUE, either online proctored via OnVUE or at a test centre.

    What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

    Five performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%).

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    What is the PfMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PfMP, where portfolio management practitioners evaluate your documented portfolio experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

    What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

    You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and our training includes practice and revision support to prepare you thoroughly.
