Market Forces Driving PfMP Demand Across Switzerland

    Pharma Portfolio Reinvention

Basel's pharma and life-sciences leaders are actively reinventing portfolios and R&D pipelines, demanding portfolio-grade prioritisation and value governance that PfMP is built to provide.

PfMP builds strategic alignment and value skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Swiss boards approve digital-transformation and capex programmes, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that portfolio leaders are hired to fix.

PfMP builds prioritisation and value-realisation skills

    Governance Maturity Gap

Swiss banks and insurers run hundreds of concurrent change initiatives, yet many lack a strategy-aligned portfolio governance layer, the exact gap PfMP is designed to close.

    PfMP builds portfolio governance skills

    Portfolio Talent Scarcity

Switzerland's project pool is deep in certified project managers but thin in credentialed portfolio leaders. PfMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and valued.

PfMP makes certified portfolio leaders stand out

    Capital-Efficiency Pressure

Margin discipline in banking and cost pressure in pharma and industry push organisations to optimise portfolios, killing low-value work and rebalancing investment to strategy.

    AI-Enabled PPM Shift

As portfolio tools become decision engines rather than reporting layers, employers need leaders who can interpret portfolio signals and govern risk before it spreads.

How to Get PfMP Certified in SwitzerlandStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PfMP certification path in Switzerland is the most senior on the PMI credential ladder. It centres on PMI's peer-panel review of your portfolio management experience, followed by a 170-question, 240-minute scenario-based exam administered through Pearson VUE. From initial application to exam day typically takes 3-6 months, including the panel-review evaluation window.

    Step 1: Confirm PfMP Eligibility

Verify you meet one of the three eligibility sets (Set A / Set B / Set C) , secondary diploma OR bachelor's degree OR GAC-accredited bachelor's, plus 96 months of professional business experience plus 84/48/36 months of portfolio management experience within the past 15 years.

Step 2: Enrol in PfMP Training

Choose your preferred Invensis Learning PfMP cohort (3-Day Live Online Bootcamp, E-Learning, or Corporate Group Training). On enrolment you receive PMI-aligned PfMP courseware, panel-submission templates, and scenario mock-exam material.

    Exam

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a computer-based, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are scenario based across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book with multiple-choice question formats, delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

What are the PfMP exam domains and weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), all defined in the current PfMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis and reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience and competency. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and our prep resources and Flexi Pass help you get exam-ready.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes 1000+ practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you find weak areas and build readiness.
