    Is the PfMP worth it for portfolio leaders in Basel?

    The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains, delivered online or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. You may attempt the exam up to three times within your one-year eligibility period from application approval.

    What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

    There are five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark; results are determined through psychometric analysis.

    What is the PfMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential. We help you prepare for it.

    What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

    Will I receive a certificate of completion?

    Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which also count towards your PfMP application and PDU records.

    What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PfMP exam?

    PMI requires 120 months (10 years) of professional business experience within the last 15 years, plus portfolio management experience: 84 months with a secondary diploma (Set A) or 48 months with a bachelor's degree or higher (Set B). All candidates must also pass the panel review.
