What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five performance domains.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential.

How do I schedule and book the PfMP exam?

Once your application is approved and you clear the panel review, schedule the exam through Pearson VUE, either at a test centre in Zurich or Switzerland or via OnVUE online proctoring, within your one-year eligibility period.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

Yes, you can retake it. PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts on the PMI store.

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus application and exam strategy.

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PfMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, an overview of The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, plus templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes 1000+ practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question exam.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, which forms the foundation of the 4th edition exam content.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours (PDUs) earned through the programme.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP exam?

PMI requires at least 120 months (10 years) of professional business experience within the past 15 years, plus portfolio management experience of 84, 48 or 36 months depending on your education, and a subject-matter-expert panel review. Anyone can enrol in the training itself.

How do I enrol in the PfMP course?
