What Is Microsoft Project Training and What Will You Master?UntitledYour Path to Confident Scheduling

Microsoft Project Training in Switzerland gives project managers, planners and PMO professionals the practical skills to plan, schedule, resource and track projects using Microsoft Project, the industry-leading scheduling software developed by Microsoft Corporation. Delivered at two levels, Fundamentals (2 days) and Advanced (3 days), the course turns spreadsheet-based planning into structured, dependency-linked schedules you can control with confidence. Microsoft Project is available as Project Standard and Project Professional on the desktop and as Project Online within Microsoft 365, so the skills you build transfer directly to the tools your organisation already uses. You learn hands-on: creating project files, building work breakdown structures, linking tasks, reading the critical path, assigning and levelling resources, setting baselines, tracking progress and producing clear Gantt charts and reports. In Switzerland, employers in pharmaceuticals, banking, engineering, construction and IT run large, governance-heavy portfolios where strong scheduling is in demand. Whether you are new to the software or an experienced user moving to resource levelling, Earned Value and multi-project management, this training builds capability you can apply from your very next project.

Market Pressures Driving Demand for Project Scheduling Skills

    Complex Pharma Programmes

Swiss drug development, clinical trials and device certification pathways demand formal scheduling, baselines and Earned Value, exactly what practitioner-level Microsoft Project skills provide.

    Learn scheduling for governance-heavy programmes

    Infrastructure at Scale

SBB rail modernisation and cantonal building programmes need dependency-linked schedules, resource levelling and cross-project coordination that spreadsheets simply cannot deliver.

    Build multi-project scheduling capability

    Digital Transformation Pipelines

The Digital Switzerland Strategy 2024-2027 has committed CHF 218 million to digital skills and infrastructure, driving transformation projects that require structured planning and tracking.

    Plan transformation work with control

    Spreadsheet-Bound Planning

Many teams still plan in Excel and lose visibility of dependencies, the critical path and progress. Microsoft Project turns that into a schedule you can control and report on.

Move from spreadsheets to controlled schedules

    Resource and Capital Discipline

High Swiss labour costs and capital discipline in finance, pharma and industry push organisations to level resources tightly and track cost and value against a firm baseline.

    Optimise resources and track cost

    Scheduling Talent Scarcity

Switzerland has a deep project talent pool but relatively few who drive Microsoft Project at practitioner level, making confident schedulers rare and sought-after.

    Become a practitioner employers seek

Microsoft Project training is a practical, hands-on course that teaches you to plan, schedule, resource and track projects using Microsoft Project. It is offered at two levels, Fundamentals (2 days) for new or occasional users and Advanced (3 days) for experienced users, and focuses on real software skills rather than an exam.

The course suits project managers, coordinators, planners, PMO analysts, programme managers and team leads who plan or report on projects. In Switzerland it is especially relevant to pharma, finance, engineering, construction and IT professionals who work with structured project schedules.

Choose Fundamentals if you are new to Microsoft Project or use it occasionally and want a solid grounding in scheduling, resources and tracking. Choose Advanced if you already use the tool and want to master resource levelling, Earned Value, custom reporting and multi-project management. You can take either level independently.

Yes. Microsoft Project is the industry-standard scheduling tool, and confident schedulers are in demand across Swiss pharma, banking, engineering and IT projects. The skill maps to roles such as planner, project manager and PMO officer, and applies directly from your next project onward.

No prior experience is needed for the Fundamentals level, though basic familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office helps. The Advanced level assumes you have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on experience using the software.

Choose Advanced if you already use the tool and want to master resource levelling, Earned Value, custom reporting and multi-project management. You can take either level independently.

Is Microsoft Project training worth it in Switzerland?

    Pricing

How much does Microsoft Project training cost in Switzerland?

Fees vary by level, delivery format (live virtual, classroom or onsite) and group size, so pricing is available on request. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options for the Fundamentals and Advanced courses.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led sessions, structured courseware, hands-on exercises using realistic project scenarios, downloadable templates, post-training email support and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Confirm exact inclusions when you enrol.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer tailored group and corporate training with volume-based pricing for PMOs and delivery teams, delivered onsite or live virtual across Switzerland. Contact us for a group quote.

Do I need a Microsoft Project licence, and is it included?

You should have Microsoft Project installed and accessible during the training. Microsoft Project is a separate product from Microsoft Corporation, so please confirm whether a trial licence is provided or whether you need your own licence when you enrol.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for Microsoft Project training?

No. This is a non-certification, skills-based course with no examination at either level. Learning is reinforced through live, hands-on Microsoft Project exercises using realistic project scenarios throughout the programme.

Do I receive anything on completion?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that records your attendance and the skills covered. It is a completion record, not a formal certification, as no external awarding body is involved in this training.

How is learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. You follow along in Microsoft Project as the trainer demonstrates each feature, then complete practical exercises using realistic project scenarios, which build proficiency through applied practice.

Will these skills support PMP or PRINCE2 work?

Yes. Microsoft Project is the scheduling tool most often used to apply PMI PMBOK and PRINCE2 planning principles in practice. The course complements methodology training by giving you the software skills to build and control the schedules those approaches call for.

How long is each level of the training?

The Fundamentals level runs for 2 days (16 hours) and the Advanced level for 3 days (24 hours). Both are available as full-day sessions or extended half-day formats, delivered live virtual, in the classroom or onsite.

    Course Content

What does the Fundamentals level cover?

Fundamentals covers project setup and calendars, building the work breakdown structure, task dependencies and the critical path, work, material and cost resources, baselines, progress tracking and built-in reporting, all with hands-on exercises.

What does the Advanced level cover?

Advanced covers task types and advanced scheduling, resource pools and levelling, cost management and Earned Value (SPI, CPI, EAC), custom fields, views and reports, and master projects with cross-project dependencies and Microsoft 365 integration.

    Are the sessions hands-on?

Yes. Both levels are delivered as instructor-led training with live Microsoft Project exercises throughout. You follow each feature in the software using realistic project scenarios, so you practise as you learn.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive structured courseware, practical exercises, downloadable templates and reference guides, plus post-training email support to help you apply the skills at work.

Which version of Microsoft Project is used?

The skills apply to Project Standard and Project Professional on the desktop and to Project Online within Microsoft 365. Please confirm the specific version used and any version requirements when you enrol.
