What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination aligned to the current ECO.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting how central contracts are to construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score, so no fixed percentage is published. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Focus on broad mastery across all four domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our training and practice resources are designed to help you prepare for a strong first attempt.

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers all four exam domains: Contracts Management (contract types, administration, variations, claims and closeout), Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management (scope, schedule, budget, risk and quality) and Project Governance, plus exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules for the PMI-CP?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced PMI modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, 56 PDUs in total.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires. Check with our team on whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading can be credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions mapped to the 120-question format, mock exams and guidance on documenting your experience for the application.

Do I need construction experience to take the PMI-CP?
