What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The exam is closed book with 120 questions in multiple-choice formats, both single-answer and multiple-answer. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), as set out in the official PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

How many attempts do I get, and what if I do not pass?

You may take up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts, so confirm the current amounts on pmi.org.

Which standard is the PMI-CP exam based on?

Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn to manage construction contracts, engage stakeholders, control scope, schedule, cost and risk, and govern projects. The training covers all four Examination Content Outline domains with construction-specific examples.

Do I need construction experience to take the training?

You can attend the training at any stage, but sitting the exam requires construction project management experience under one of PMI's three eligibility sets. Our trainers help you plan your route to eligibility.

Does the training help with the four prerequisite modules?

Yes. The programme guides you through PMI's four mandatory self-paced modules, covering project communications, interface management, scope and change order management, and contract and risk management, which together award 56 PDUs.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, reflecting construction industry standards and practices.

Does the 32-hour training meet the 35-hour education requirement?
