    How many exams are in the combined programme?

    Two separate EXIN exams: the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You must pass both to hold both credentials, and the Foundation certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level.

    What is the format of the two exams?

    Both exams have 40 questions, last 60 minutes and are closed book. The Foundation exam uses single-answer multiple-choice questions; the Practitioner exam uses scenario-based multiple-choice questions that test applied judgement.

    What is the passing score?

    The pass mark is 65% for both exams, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct. The same threshold applies to the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam.

    Where can I sit the exams?

    Both exams are delivered online through EXIN's proctored exam system or at an EXIN accredited testing location, and are usually arranged through your accredited training provider.

    What standard are the exams based on?

    The exams follow the EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications, both aligned to the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge and quality-assured by BCS.

    What if I do not pass the first time?

    You can re-sit an EXIN exam by purchasing a new voucher; verify the current re-sit policy at enrolment. Our mock exams and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass both exams on your first attempt.

    Course Content

    What topics does the course cover?

    The Foundation level covers 14 topic areas, including investigation techniques, requirements engineering, business process modelling, stakeholder management and business cases. The Practitioner level covers seven applied topic areas assessed through scenarios.

    Do I need prior experience to take this course?

    No. The Foundation level has no prerequisites and is beginner friendly. The Practitioner level builds on Foundation knowledge and is designed for those applying BA skills in real projects, with trainer support throughout.

    What practical skills will I gain?

    You will learn to run interviews and workshops, elicit and prioritise requirements, model processes with BPMN and use cases, analyse strategy with PESTLE and SWOT, manage stakeholders, and build a business case using NPV, ROI and payback.
