Industry Forces Driving PfMP Demand in the Dominican Republic

    Strategy-To-Delivery Gap

Dominican boards approve tourism, energy and digital programmes, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that portfolio leaders are hired to fix.

PfMP builds prioritisation and value-realisation skills

    Governance Maturity Gap

Local banks, telecoms and free-zone firms run many concurrent projects, yet many lack a strategy-aligned portfolio governance layer, the exact gap the PfMP credential is built to close.

PfMP builds strategic alignment and governance skills

    Record Investment, Rising Complexity

Foreign investment at a record USD 5.03 billion is funding large capital programmes that demand portfolio-grade prioritisation, risk aggregation and cross-programme coordination.

PfMP builds portfolio risk and coordination skills

    Portfolio Talent Scarcity

The Dominican talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed portfolio leaders. PfMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PfMP makes certified portfolio leaders stand out

    Capital-Efficiency Pressure

Margin and capital discipline in banking, energy and manufacturing push firms to optimise the portfolio, retire low-value work and rebalance investment to strategy.

    PfMP builds portfolio optimisation skills

    Tourism and Infrastructure Scale-Up

A record 11.6 million visitors and expanding infrastructure require coordinated, multi-programme portfolio management across regions and funding sources.

    PfMP builds cross-programme portfolio skills

How to Get PfMP Certified in Dominican RepublicStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PfMP certification path in Dominican Republic is the most senior on the PMI credential ladder. It centres on PMI's peer-panel review of your portfolio management experience, followed by a 170-question, 240-minute scenario-based exam administered through Pearson VUE. From initial application to exam day typically takes 3-6 months, including the panel-review evaluation window.

    Step 1: Confirm PfMP Eligibility

Verify you meet one of the three eligibility sets (Set A / Set B / Set C) , secondary diploma OR bachelor's degree OR GAC-accredited bachelor's, plus 96 months of professional business experience plus 84/48/36 months of portfolio management experience within the past 15 years.

Step 2: Enrol in PfMP Training

Choose your preferred Invensis Learning PfMP cohort (3-Day Live Online Bootcamp, E-Learning, or Corporate Group Training). On enrolment you receive PMI-aligned PfMP courseware, panel-submission templates, and scenario mock-exam material.

Step 3: Document Portfolio Management Experience for Panel Review

Compile your portfolio management experience submission to PMI's evaluation standard: roles held, portfolios led, governance forums chaired, value realised. Invensis Learning's submission templates and reviewer feedback help you avoid the common rejection patterns PMI flags.

Step 4: Submit the PfMP Application to PMI

Submit your application via the PMI candidate portal. PMI performs an initial review, then forwards the experience submission to the peer panel for evaluation. The panel-review window typically runs 60-90 days. Pay the PfMP application/exam fee: ~$800 (PMI member) or ~$1,000 (non-member).

Step 5: Prepare for the Examination

Strengthen your readiness through structured PfMP exam prep training, mock examinations, scenario-based exercises, portfolio governance case studies, and focused revision plans. This preparation helps build confidence for the examination and reinforces key portfolio management concepts.

Step 6: Earn the PfMP Credential and Plan CCR Renewal

On passing, PMI issues your PfMP digital badge and certificate. The credential is valid for three years; renew via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning 60 PDUs across the 3-year cycle in portfolio-relevant content.

    General

Is the PfMP certification worth it in the Dominican Republic?

Yes. PfMP is PMI's most senior portfolio credential and positions you for roles such as Portfolio Manager, Head of PMO and PMO Director, where Dominican salaries reach RD$6 million a year and above. As record investment flows into banking, tourism and energy, certified portfolio leaders are in demand.

What is the PfMP certification and who is it for?

PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional) is PMI's advanced credential for professionals who manage portfolios of programmes and projects aligned to organisational strategy. It is designed for portfolio managers, PMO heads, delivery directors and senior practitioners with substantial portfolio experience.

Is the PfMP recognised in the Dominican Republic?

Yes. PfMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across the Dominican Republic and worldwide, including banks, telecoms, tourism groups, energy firms and free-zone manufacturers that run large project portfolios.

How is PfMP different from PMP and PgMP?

PMP validates managing individual projects and PgMP validates managing a coordinated programme of related projects. PfMP sits above both: it validates managing the whole organisational portfolio, aligning the selection, prioritisation and governance of all programmes and projects to strategy.

How long is the PfMP certification valid?

PfMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle, with a minimum of eight PDUs in each area.

    Pricing

What is included in the PfMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for the plan that suits you.

How much does PfMP training cost in the Dominican Republic?

Training fees vary by format and provider and are available on request in your local currency. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

How much is the PfMP exam fee?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org. PMI individual membership (about USD 139 a year) reduces the exam fee and gives free access to The Standard for Portfolio Management.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts for PfMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, business units and leadership teams across the Dominican Republic. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across the five portfolio management performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback rather than a fixed percentage score.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience and competency. It is mandatory in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

How do I schedule and take the PfMP exam?

Once your application is approved and you clear the panel review, schedule the exam through Pearson VUE, either via OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, within your one-year eligibility period.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, simulator and revision support are designed to help you prepare thoroughly for the first attempt.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus application and panel-review preparation and exam strategy.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline (ECO), so you study against the framework the exam is built on.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes 1000+ practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across all five domains.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

PfMP is a senior credential, so learners usually bring several years of business and portfolio experience. The training builds structured knowledge on top of that experience and prepares you for both the panel review and the exam.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PfMP journey.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP exam?

PMI requires a secondary or four-year degree, 120 months (10 years) of business experience within the last 15 years, and portfolio management experience within that period (84 months with a secondary diploma, or 48 months with a bachelor's degree), plus a panel review.

How do I enrol in the PfMP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, self-paced e-learning, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style.

How soon can I start PfMP training?

New batches run regularly for both individual and corporate learners. See upcoming schedules on our website or speak with a learning advisor to find the next start date that works for you.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include a Flexi Pass to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.
