What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and aligned to the current edition of the PMBOK Guide. It covers four construction domains through single-answer and multiple-answer questions.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is delivered online proctored through Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the four PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The four domains per the PMI-CP ECO are Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting the centrality of contracts in construction.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

The PMI-CP has a two-part requirement. First, complete all four mandatory self-paced modules (56 PDUs total). Second, meet one experience and education set: for example, a bachelor's degree plus 36 months of construction project management experience within the past 10 years and 35 contact hours of project management education.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. A re-examination fee applies to the second and third attempts. Our practice questions and mock assessments are designed to build your readiness before you sit the exam.

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers all four exam domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management and Project Governance, plus guidance on the four prerequisite modules and exam strategy. Content is aligned to the PMI-CP ECO and the current PMBOK Guide.

Can a beginner take this course, or do I need experience?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PMI-CP is an advanced construction credential. To sit the exam you need construction project management experience and the four completed modules. The training is well suited to site managers and project engineers moving into project management.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours of project management education, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours PMI requires. Check with us whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions mapped to the 120-question, closed-book format, full mock assessments and topic-wise quizzes to help you find weak areas and build exam confidence.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you prepare against the standard PMI tests today.
