No. PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and the PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

Is the PMI-CP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is valued on international construction projects where clients and contractors seek globally recognised project management credentials.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Essen?

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats, based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and you have 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes, to complete it. Questions are distributed across the four domains, with Contracts Management the largest at 50%.

What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP?

You must complete all four self-paced prerequisite modules and meet one experience set: high school diploma with 60 months construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer support are designed to build readiness so you can approach each attempt with confidence.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. You renew by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within the cycle. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You learn to manage construction contracts, change orders and claims, engage owners, authorities and communities, control scope, schedule, budget and risk, and govern delivery. The content maps to the four PMI-CP domains and the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

Which standard is the training based on?

The training is aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and draws on the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you study the four construction domains exactly as the exam tests them.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute format, plus quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do you help with the four prerequisite modules?

Yes. We guide you on completing the four mandatory self-paced modules, Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management, each awarding 14 PDUs, 56 PDUs in total.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which count toward the PM education prerequisite.
