Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Germany?

Certified professionals stand out amid a skilled worker shortage, and construction project managers here average around €79,900, rising well above €100,000 at senior level.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in Germany?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is valued by German and international construction firms, contractors and consultancies that seek a globally recognised project management credential alongside local qualifications.

Do I need the PMP before taking the PMI-CP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary: the PMP validates broad project management, while the PMI-CP validates construction-specific expertise, and many professionals hold both.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Germany?

Training fees vary by format, whether live online, classroom or corporate group delivery. Your fee covers PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions and learner support, but not the PMI exam fee, which is billed separately. What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, including single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current PMBOK Guide, and is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book and taken either online with remote proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the four PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains per the ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting how central contracts, claims and disputes are to construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam first time?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility window from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts. Our training, practice questions and mock exams are designed to build readiness across all four domains before you sit the exam.

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance. You learn contract administration, variations and claims, stakeholder engagement, scope, schedule, cost and risk control, and governance, plus exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, all candidates complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Can I take this training without prior construction experience?

Anyone can enrol in the training to build knowledge and earn contact hours. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience under one of three eligibility sets, plus 35 contact hours of PM education and the four prerequisite modules.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions mapped to the exam, mock tests, downloadable construction templates and topic-wise quizzes to reinforce each domain.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current PMBOK Guide, along with construction industry standards and practices referenced in the ECO, so you prepare against the content the exam actually tests.
