What Is Driving PfMP Demand Across Germany

    Industry 4.0 Transformation Load

German manufacturers and automotive firms run many parallel digital initiatives. Without a portfolio governance layer, these Industry 4.0 investments compete for funding and stall, the gap PfMP is built to close.

PfMP builds strategic alignment and prioritisation skills

    The Energiewende Investment Wave

Germany's energy transition and infrastructure spend demands portfolio-grade prioritisation and risk aggregation across renewable, grid and mobility programmes running at the same time.

PfMP builds portfolio risk and coordination skills

    The Automotive Software Shift

As German carmakers pivot to electric and software-defined vehicles, leaders need portfolio discipline to balance legacy platforms against future investment and protect strategic value.

PfMP builds portfolio value and balancing skills

    Portfolio Governance Maturity Gap

Many German enterprises fund a wide slate of projects but lack a strategy-aligned portfolio layer. This causes value leakage that certified portfolio leaders are now hired to fix.

PfMP builds governance and oversight skills

    Scarce Portfolio Talent

Germany has a deep pool of certified project managers but few credentialed portfolio leaders. PfMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PfMP makes certified portfolio leaders stand out

    Capital-Efficiency Pressure

Cost discipline across industry and financial services pushes organisations to optimise the portfolio, retire low-value work and rebalance funding towards strategic priorities.

How to Get PfMP Certified in GermanyStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PfMP certification path in Germany is the most senior on the PMI credential ladder. Pricing

What is included in the PfMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for the current fee.

How much does PfMP training cost in Germany?

PfMP training fees vary by format and provider and are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PfMP exam fee separately. For reference, it is around USD 800 for PMI members and USD 1,000 for non-members, and prices may vary, so confirm the current fee on the PMI store before applying. PMI membership can lower the exam cost.

    Exam

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are scenario-based and spread across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a total allotted time of four hours. Results are reported with domain-level performance feedback rather than a single published pass percentage.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). Broad mastery across all five is the best exam strategy.

What happens if I do not pass the PfMP exam first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, simulator and trainer guidance are designed to support a confident first attempt.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PfMP training?

You will learn to align portfolios to strategy, govern and oversee components, manage portfolio performance and value, manage portfolio risk, and lead executive communications. The syllabus maps to the five PfMP performance domains plus application and exam strategy.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

Anyone can attend the training, and it is built for experienced professionals. To sit the PfMP exam, PMI requires substantial business and portfolio management experience within the last 15 years, plus a panel review, so the course also helps you prepare that application.

Are practice tests, mock exams and assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build readiness across all five domains.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline from PMI.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which count towards your PfMP application.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to earn the PfMP?

PMI requires a secondary or bachelor's degree with substantial general business experience and portfolio management experience within the last 15 years, plus a passed panel review. The exact months depend on your education path in the PfMP Handbook. Anyone can enrol in the training itself.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website, choose your preferred format and complete payment to receive access to schedules and resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.

What training formats are available in Germany?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, self-paced e-learning, classroom training and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include a Flexi Pass to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
