What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO leaders and transformation directors with substantial programme experience.

Is PMP required before taking the PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

Is the PgMP recognised in Germany?

Yes. PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Germany and worldwide, including automotive, engineering, IT services, financial services and consulting organisations that run large, strategy-critical programmes.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

What is included in the PgMP course fee and how do I pay?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application and panel-review support, and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. How much does the PgMP exam cost?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members, billed in USD under regional pricing. Actual fees vary, so confirm the current amount on pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost and give access to The Standard for Program Management.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately from the training fee. Membership can lower both the exam fee and later renewal costs. Speak with a learning advisor to plan your total certification budget.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing for teams in Germany?

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer guidance are designed to build readiness before you sit the exam.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is closed book, with multiple-choice question formats, and is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), as set out in the PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It must be passed in addition to the written exam to earn the credential.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application and panel-review preparation and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the PgMP training based on?

The courseware is aligned to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, from PMI. The fourth edition is the current reference standard for the five program management performance domains.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

PgMP is a senior credential, so the training assumes substantial programme experience. Anyone can attend to build knowledge, but to sit the exam PMI requires documented project and programme management experience across one of its three eligibility sets.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the PgMP ECO, along with quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PgMP syllabus?

Yes. The content is aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management 4th Edition, so you study against what PMI actually assesses.

What are the eligibility requirements to earn the PgMP?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 84 months of programme experience; with a four-year degree the programme experience requirement drops to 48 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

What training formats are available in Germany?
