What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, 4th Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions, of which 150 are scored and 20 are unscored pretest questions. You have four hours (240 minutes) to complete it.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). The training covers all five plus application and exam strategy.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass, can I retake the exam?

Yes. PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and our prep support helps you strengthen weak areas before a retake. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm current amounts on the PMI store.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is mandatory alongside the written exam, and our training includes guidance to prepare for it.

Are practice tests, mock exams or assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes 1000+ practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline, so you prepare against the framework the exam tests.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours (PDUs) earned through the programme.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP exam?

PMI requires 120 months (10 years) of business experience within the past 15 years, plus portfolio management experience: 84 months with a secondary diploma, 48 months with a bachelor's degree, or 36 months with a GAC-accredited degree, and a panel review.
