Why Hobart Employers Need Certified Change Leaders

    Public Sector Transformation Pressure

Tasmanian Government agencies are redesigning services and digitising delivery, but many lack a structured way to manage the people side of change, the exact gap this qualification is built to close.

Foundation and Practitioner training builds change practice skills

    Renewable Energy Transition at Scale

Battery of the Nation, Marinus Link and the 200% renewable target mean major change across Tasmania's energy sector, demanding change leaders who can engage stakeholders and manage adoption.

The course builds stakeholder engagement and readiness skills

    Health System Reform

The Royal Hobart Hospital redevelopment and wider health reform ask staff to adopt new models of care, where skilled change managers reduce resistance and protect frontline wellbeing.

The training builds resistance management skills

    Change Fatigue and Resistance

Teams facing back-to-back change often stall, disengage or revert. Practitioners trained in ADKAR and Bridges' Transition Model diagnose where change is stuck and target the right interventions.

The course teaches ADKAR and transition support

    Change Skills Shortage in Tasmania

Tasmania has deep project delivery talent but fewer credentialed change professionals. A recognised Foundation and Practitioner qualification helps holders stand out in a tight local market.

The credential makes certified change leaders stand out

    Digital and ICT Modernisation

Government and utility ICT upgrades succeed only when people adopt new systems and ways of working, so employers increasingly hire change specialists to drive uptake alongside delivery.

The training connects technology change to adoption

    General

Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification worth it?

Yes. The qualification proves you can lead the people side of organisational change, a capability Hobart employers in the public sector, health, energy and research value highly. Change Manager roles in Tasmania average around A$112,861, and the two-level pathway opens senior change and transformation roles.

What is the Change Management certification and who is it for?

It is a two-level qualification covering the knowledge, models and practices needed to manage organisational change. Foundation validates your understanding of change concepts, and Practitioner validates your ability to apply them to real scenarios. It suits change managers, project and programme managers, HR partners and leaders.

What standard is the course based on?

The course is built around the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) from the Change Management Institute, and the current Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi. It covers models including ADKAR, Kotter's 8-Step Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, McKinsey 7-S, Bridges' Transition Model and Schein's culture model.

Is the Change Management qualification recognised internationally?

Yes. It is recognised across many countries and is well respected in Australia, the UK and Europe where change management is an established profession. That makes it a transferable credential you can carry across sectors and employers.

Do I need experience or prerequisites to start?

No experience is needed for Foundation, which is open to all. To sit the Practitioner exam you must first hold the Foundation certification, which the combined programme prepares you for. The course is beginner friendly and suits people new to formal change management.

    Pricing

What is included in the Change Management course fee?

The fee typically includes CMBoK-aligned courseware, case studies, mock exams and practice questions for both levels, and learner support before, during and after training. Exam voucher inclusion varies by package. Request a quote to see what is included for your chosen format.

How much does Change Management training cost in Hobart?

Fees vary by delivery format, whether live virtual, classroom or corporate, and by whether exam vouchers are bundled. Pricing is available on request. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote for your enrolment or team.

Are the exam fees part of the training price?

Exam voucher inclusion depends on the package you choose. Some bundles include both the Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers, while others are training only. Confirm the current inclusions with our team before you enrol.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for change teams, PMOs and HR functions. Ask about corporate and group pricing for a quote tailored to your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the payment option that suits you.

    Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

Two separate exams. You sit and pass the Foundation exam first, then the Practitioner exam. You must pass both to hold both credentials, and the combined programme prepares you for each one.

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 40 minutes. It is closed book and single-answer, with a pass mark of 50%, meaning 25 out of 50 correct. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation part of the course.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, so the Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted, with a pass mark of 50%, meaning 40 out of 80 marks.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

It means you may use the Change Management Practitioner Guide during the exam. However, the scenario sections require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look up answers. The course builds both deep method knowledge and efficient guide navigation.

What if I do not pass an exam the first time?

You can resit the exam you did not pass. Our trainers provide guidance and mock exams to help you prepare for both the Foundation and Practitioner exams on the first attempt. Ask our team about resit options for your package.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the Change Management course?

You will learn to lead individuals through change, apply organisational change models, engage stakeholders, plan and deliver change, and manage yourself as a change professional. The syllabus spans five areas at Foundation knowledge level and Practitioner application level.

What are the five topic areas covered?

The five areas are Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation covers them at awareness level and Practitioner at application and analysis level.

Which change models does the course cover?

The course covers ADKAR, Bridges' Transition Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model, McKinsey 7-S, Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence model and Cialdini's principles of influence, all drawn from the CMBoK and the exam syllabi.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams for both the Foundation and Practitioner levels, plus case studies, to help you find weak areas and build exam readiness before you sit each exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) and the current Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi, so you study the models and content the exams actually assess.
