Why Tasmania Needs Certified Program Leaders

    Governance Gap on Mega-Projects

Tasmania's A$30 billion pipeline and projects like Marinus Link run many interdependent workstreams, but a strategy-aligned programme governance layer is often missing, exactly the gap PgMP is built to close.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and governance skills

    Strategy to Delivery Disconnect

Boards approve capex and transformation budgets, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that certified programme leaders are now hired to fix.

    PgMP builds benefits realisation skills

    Energy Transition Complexity

With A$1.8 billion committed to energy generation and network upgrades, utilities need programme-grade prioritisation, risk aggregation and cross-project coordination across a long delivery horizon.

PgMP builds programme risk and coordination skills

    Antarctic and Science Coordination

Hobart's role as an Antarctic gateway, the Infrastructure Renewal Program and Macquarie Point demand coordinated governance across research, logistics and capital projects at scale.

    PgMP builds multi-project governance skills

    Senior Programme Talent Scarcity

Tasmania's market is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed programme leaders. PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PgMP makes certified programme leaders stand out

    Public Sector and Health Transformation

Health system upgrades and government digital transformation involve many related projects and stakeholders, calling for programme leaders who can govern change and sustain benefits.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It covers five performance domains through application, analysis and synthesis rather than pure recall.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Program Life Cycle Management is the largest, so weight your preparation accordingly.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review and what if I do not pass first time?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment of your documented programme experience that you must pass alongside the written exam. You get up to three exam attempts within a one-year eligibility window; reexamination fees apply, and our prep support helps you get ready.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five program management performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application guidance and exam strategy aligned to the ECO.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PgMP credential expects substantial experience. PMI requires 48 to 84 months of programme management experience depending on your education, plus project management experience or an active PMP. We help you check your eligibility.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, an overview of The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, plus templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the exam domains, so you can identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question format.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PgMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, 4th Edition, which forms the basis of the exam.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a bachelor's degree you need 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 48 months of programme management experience; with a secondary diploma the programme requirement rises to 84 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.

What training formats are available in Hobart?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style. Live online sessions suit busy senior leaders across Tasmania.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?
