The Efficiency Pressures Reshaping Armenian Operations

    Efficiency Pressure on Exporters

Armenian producers modernising to compete on export markets need faster, leaner flow. VSM exposes the lead-time and inventory waste that erodes margin and delivery reliability.

    VSM builds waste-elimination skills

    Food and Beverage Throughput

Food, beverage and tobacco make up the largest share of Armenia's manufacturing. Tight production lines and perishable stock demand the flow analysis that value stream mapping provides.

VSM builds flow and takt-time skills

    Raising Manufacturing's GDP Share

The national plan to grow manufacturing from 11% to 15% of GDP relies on higher productivity, and mapping is a proven first step to remove waste and lift output without new capital.

    VSM builds process-improvement skills

    Scarce Lean Talent

Armenia has a deep engineering base but few trained Lean and continuous improvement practitioners, so people who can facilitate mapping and lead improvement are in short supply.

VSM makes improvement professionals stand out

    Capital-Efficiency Discipline

With capital tight across manufacturing and mining, firms must optimise existing operations. VSM helps teams cut low-value activity and rebalance flow to customer demand.

VSM builds portfolio optimisation of work

    Pharma and Quality Compliance

As Armenia grows its pharmaceutical sector, batch flow, traceability and quality pressure rise. Mapping brings structure to lead time and process control across the value stream.

    Your Armenia Career Transformation

    Where You Stand Today

    The Shift VSM Skills Deliver

Armenia's manufacturers and service firms are under real pressure to raise efficiency, cut lead time and compete on export markets. Employers increasingly separate people who can diagnose and redesign a value stream from those who only run the process. Here is the shift these skills make.

    Today

Progress capped without a recognised improvement skill to negotiate with

    After VSM

Positioned for improvement and operations roles that command stronger bands in Armenia's market

    Today

Overlooked for roles that ask for hands-on process improvement capability

    After VSM

Shortlisted more often for Lean, quality and continuous improvement openings

    Today

Confident on the shop floor, but employers want value-stream-level thinking

    After VSM

Fluent in mapping flow, calculating takt and lead time, and designing the future state

    You master Value Stream Mapping

    Before

Improvement ideas that rely on opinion rather than a clear, shared diagnosis

    Now you have

A practical, globally trusted Lean skill recognised across Armenian and international employers

    Before

Running the process day to day with little visibility of end-to-end flow

    Now you have

The ability to lead current-state and future-state mapping for your own team

    Before

Waste and lead time that everyone senses but no one can quite pin down

    Now you have

A costed improvement plan and Kaizen roadmap you can put straight to work

    Before

Skills tied to one process, harder to carry into a new role or sector

    Now you have

A transferable capability that travels across manufacturing, services and IT

"The distance between running a process and improving a whole value stream is a practical, learnable skill, and the organisations that matter already know it."

The Lean Mapping Skills You Will BuildPractical Mapping Capability, Start to Finish

This programme builds practical, applied capability across the full VSM process. By the end, you can map a value stream, analyse it for waste, design a leaner future state, and plan the improvements to get there.

    Mapping the Current State

You will learn to build an accurate current-state value stream map, walking the process from customer to supplier and capturing cycle time, changeover, uptime and inventory through direct observation on the Gemba, so the map reflects how work truly flows today.

    Reading Waste and Bottlenecks

Identify the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME) on your map, find the constraint that limits overall flow, and separate value-adding from non-value-adding activity so improvement effort lands where it delivers the most impact.

Calculating Takt, Cycle and Lead Time

Work out takt time from customer demand, compare it with process cycle times, and use the ratio of value-added time to total lead time as a clear, defensible measure of how much waste sits in the flow.

    Designing the Future State

Apply the eight future-state questions to design leaner flow: introduce pull systems and supermarkets, level the schedule, and set a single pacemaker process that paces production to real customer demand.

    Standard VSM Symbols and Notation

Use the standard VSM symbol set for process, material and information flow, data boxes and Kaizen bursts, so your maps read clearly and consistently across operations, quality, engineering and logistics teams.

    Building an Implementation Plan

Turn a future-state map into a costed, time-based improvement roadmap and Kaizen event schedule, set baseline metrics, and embed standard work so gains hold rather than slipping back over time.

Do I need prior Lean experience?

No. The course introduces every Lean concept it uses, from the eight wastes to takt time, in the context of mapping. Some familiarity with Lean principles is helpful but not required, so both beginners and experienced practitioners benefit.

What does the VSM technique actually involve?

VSM creates a single visual map of the materials and information needed to deliver a product or service from concept to customer. Developed within the Toyota Production System and popularised in Learning to See (1998), it exposes waste and guides leaner, faster flow.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Armenia?

Fees vary by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate) and group size. There is no separate exam or certification fee, as this is a non-certification skills course. Request a quote for current pricing and available batches.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six VSM modules, hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises, courseware and templates, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Learner support is included throughout the programme.

Are there discounts for group or corporate training?

Yes. We offer tailored corporate pricing for teams, with volume-based rates and customised scheduling. Group VSM training is especially effective because your team can map a real value stream from your own organisation. Ask about corporate and group pricing.

Is there any exam or certification fee?

No. Value Stream Mapping is a non-certification course, so there is no exam and no separate certification cost. You pay only the training fee and receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning on finishing the programme.

How do I pay for the training?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. A learning advisor can walk you through the options that suit an individual enrolment or a corporate booking. Talk to an advisor to arrange payment.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. Value Stream Mapping training is a non-certification course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion during the one-day programme, and you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to select a product family, run a Gemba walk to gather data, draw a current-state map with standard symbols, identify waste and bottlenecks, design a future-state map, and build an implementation and Kaizen plan to reach it.

    Do I receive a certificate?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. This is a record of training rather than a formal external credential, as the VSM technique has no governing certification body.

    How is learning assessed?

There is no formal test. You practise on realistic scenarios throughout the day, building both a current-state and a future-state map, so you leave able to facilitate VSM workshops and apply the technique in your own workplace.

How long is the training and what is the format?

The programme runs for one day (about eight hours), covering Lean foundations, VSM symbols, current-state mapping, analysis, future-state design and implementation planning, with mapping exercises throughout. It is available live virtual, in classroom and onsite.

    Course Content

What topics does the VSM course cover?

The course covers six modules: Lean foundations and VSM, standard symbols and notation, creating the current-state map, analysing it for waste and bottlenecks, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning to sustain improvement.

What is the difference between current-state and future-state maps?

A current-state map shows how a value stream actually works today, based on direct observation, and reveals waste. A future-state map is the leaner design you aim for, using flow, pull and levelling. The course teaches you to build both.

Will I practise mapping during the course?

Yes. The training is hands-on. You create both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario, applying standard symbols, takt time and the eight future-state questions, so the skill sticks.

How does VSM relate to Lean and Six Sigma?

VSM is a core Lean tool and is widely used in the Define and Measure phases of Six Sigma DMAIC projects. It is a strong complement to Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen training, giving you the diagnostic map that guides improvement work.

Is the course relevant beyond manufacturing?

Yes. While VSM began on the factory floor, it applies to healthcare pathways, logistics, financial services, IT and software delivery, and back-office processes, anywhere you want to visualise and improve end-to-end flow.
