Market Forces Making Design Quality a Priority in Armenia

Designing Quality in, Not Inspecting It Out

Armenian manufacturing output grew 9.5% in early 2026, but rapid scaling exposes designs that were never engineered for quality. DFSS closes that gap by building quality in at the design stage.

    DFSS builds design-stage quality skills

    Pharma Scaling to International Standards

With pharma output up 15.4% and national export targets rising, producers must meet GMP and ISO 13485 design controls. DFSS tools like QFD and Design FMEA make those requirements repeatable.

DFSS supports design controls and QFD

From Software Strength to Hardware Design

Armenia's talent runs deep in software but thinner in structured product and process design. DFSS gives engineers the DMADV discipline that hardware, machinery and device design demand.

    DFSS adds structured design methodology

    Export Ambitions Demand First-Time-Right

As Armenian firms target global markets, one field failure can undo a hard-won reputation. Robust design and design verification help teams launch products that hold up under real-world variation.

    DFSS builds robust, verified designs

The Rising Cost of Late Redesign

A change made after launch can cost far more than one made at the design stage. DFSS front-loads decisions so defects are designed out before they reach production or the customer.

    DFSS prevents costly late changes

    A Structured Design Methodology Gap

Many growing firms design by intuition, with no common roadmap. The DMADV framework gives engineering, quality and NPD teams one shared, traceable path from customer need to verified design.

The DFSS Tools You Will Put to WorkFrom VOC and QFD to Design FMEA and Robust Design

This section maps to the DMADV methodology and the core DFSS toolkit. By the end of the one-day programme, you can move a design from customer need through robust, verified solution using tools you have practised on realistic scenarios.

    Apply the DMADV Roadmap

Work through Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify as a structured path for designing new products, services and processes to Six Sigma quality levels, and know when to use DFSS instead of DMAIC.

Capture and Classify Voice of the Customer

Gather customer needs through interviews, observation and surveys, then use the Kano model to sort must-be, performance and delighter requirements so design effort goes where it counts.

    Flow Requirements Down with QFD

Translate customer needs into measurable CTQs and build a Quality Function Deployment House of Quality that links what customers want to the engineering characteristics that deliver it.

Select Concepts and Run Design FMEA

Generate and compare design options with a Pugh matrix, then use Design FMEA and the Risk Priority Number to find, rank and design out potential failure modes before they reach production.

    Design for Robustness

Use the P-diagram, Taguchi thinking and tolerancing to create designs that stay on target despite variation in manufacturing, environment and use, and apply Design for Manufacturability principles.

    Plan Design Verification and Transfer

Distinguish verification from validation, use a design scorecard to track performance against every CTQ, and manage a clean transfer of the verified design to production or service delivery.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a proactive Six Sigma methodology for designing new products, services and processes to reach Six Sigma quality levels from the outset. This training suits product and design engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers, NPD leaders and Six Sigma practitioners in Armenia who want to design quality in rather than fix it later.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma and who is this training for?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a proactive Six Sigma methodology for designing new products, services and processes to reach Six Sigma quality levels from the outset. This training suits product and design engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers, NPD leaders and Six Sigma practitioners in Armenia who want to design quality in rather than fix it later.

How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products or processes correctly the first time. This course covers DFSS using the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify). Most organisations use both: DMAIC to improve what exists, DFSS to design what is new.

Is DFSS training worth it for engineers in Armenia?

Yes. As Armenia's electronics, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors scale toward export and international standards, employers value engineers who can design robust, first-time-right products. DFSS skills map to design, R&D and quality roles at firms such as Synopsys, NVIDIA, Microchip and leading local manufacturers.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma ideas such as CTQ and variation is helpful, but the course introduces the DMADV methodology and all DFSS tools from first principles, so newcomers and experienced practitioners can both benefit.

Which methodology and tools does the course cover?

The training is built around the DMADV roadmap and the core DFSS toolkit: Voice of the Customer and the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, concept selection with the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, robust design and design verification.

    Pricing

How much does the Design for Six Sigma training cost in Armenia?

Pricing depends on the delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate onsite) and group size, so fees are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to your needs, or ask about group pricing for teams.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this training?

No. Design for Six Sigma Training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, case examples and discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning once you finish the programme. It recognises that you have completed practical DFSS training; it is not an external credential or accreditation.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment or pass mark. Instead, you apply DMADV tools such as VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA to realistic design scenarios throughout the day, which reinforces the methodology through practice.

Will I be able to apply DFSS at work straight away?

Yes. The methodology and tools are immediately usable. After the training you can facilitate VOC workshops, build a House of Quality, run a Design FMEA, apply robust design thinking and structure a design verification plan on live projects.

Does this course lead to a Six Sigma belt?

No. This is a focused DFSS skills programme, not a belt certification. It complements belt-level learning well: if you want DMAIC belt training or software skills for analysis, our Lean Six Sigma and Minitab programmes are natural companions.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the DFSS training?

The course covers all six areas of the DMADV methodology: DFSS foundations and the DMADV roadmap, the Define phase (VOC and Kano), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept selection and Design FMEA), the Design phase (robust design and DFMA) and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours). It can also be delivered as two half-day sessions totalling 8 hours, covering all six DMADV phases with concept explanations and hands-on tool exercises throughout.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You practise the tools on realistic product and process design scenarios, including VOC to CTQ flow-down, building a QFD House of Quality, a Pugh concept selection matrix and a Design FMEA worksheet, so the methodology sticks.

    What materials are provided?

You receive structured courseware covering the DMADV roadmap and DFSS toolkit, along with worked examples and exercise templates. Corporate sessions can use examples drawn from your own products and design challenges.

Is the content relevant to my industry?

Yes. DFSS applies across electronics and semiconductor design, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, machinery and consumer products, all sectors active in Armenia. The tools are industry-neutral, and corporate delivery tailors examples to your field.
