    Do I need a Yellow Belt or prior experience first?

    No. There are no prerequisites for the Green Belt certification. A Yellow Belt or real-world project experience helps, but neither is required. The training takes you from the fundamentals through to the full DMAIC toolkit, so beginners are welcome.

    Which body awards the Green Belt credential?

    The certification is awarded by the International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC), an independent body acquired by PeopleCert in 2020. It provides third-party validation of Lean Six Sigma knowledge and is recognised globally across industries.

    What is the format of the Green Belt exam?

    The Green Belt exam is closed book and uses multiple-choice and true or false questions. It is delivered through online proctoring on demand or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the five DMAIC phases of the Green Belt Body of Knowledge.

    How many questions are on the exam and what is the pass mark?

    The exam has 100 questions, with up to 10 additional unscored questions on some forms, and you have three hours to complete it. You need a minimum of 385 points out of 550 to pass, with roughly 20 questions drawn from each DMAIC phase.

    Are there any eligibility requirements to sit the exam?

    No. There are no formal prerequisites for the Green Belt exam. Training and real-world experience are recommended but not mandatory, so you can sit the exam once you feel confident across the DMAIC method.

    What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

    You can retake the exam, and our training includes practice questions, mock tests and exam-readiness guidance to help you pass with confidence. Selected plans also offer a retake option. Ask a learning advisor about the support included in your package.

    How long is the certification valid and how do I renew?

    The Green Belt certification holds Current status for three years. To renew, you pass a recertification exam of 75 questions in two hours with a minimum score of 70 percent before your status elapses. This keeps your credential active for another three years.

    Course Content

    What topics does the Green Belt training cover?

    The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. You learn project scoping, voice of the customer, process mapping, measurement system analysis, process capability, hypothesis testing, regression, statistical process control and Lean tools such as 5S and value stream mapping.

    Can a beginner take this course?

    Yes. The course is beginner friendly and assumes no prior Six Sigma knowledge. Trainers introduce the statistics step by step and use real examples, hands-on exercises and practice questions, so professionals from technical and non-technical backgrounds can follow comfortably.

    How many training hours are included?

    The Green Belt programme provides 32 hours of structured training, delivered in flexible schedules such as four full days, six shorter days or eight half-days. Your trainer paces the DMAIC content so you build understanding and exam readiness together.

    What learning resources are provided?

    You receive DMAIC-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock tests, quizzes and reference materials, along with hands-on exercises that apply the tools to real scenarios. Learner support is available throughout the programme.

    Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the IASSC Green Belt Body of Knowledge, which is structured around the five DMAIC phases. This keeps your preparation focused on exactly what the exam assesses.
