The Market Forces Behind P6 Demand in Zambia

    Copper Expansion at Scale

Mine expansions such as Lumwana and Kansanshi run thousands of interlinked activities. Planners who can structure and schedule them in P6 are essential to keeping delivery on time and on budget.

    P6 builds large-schedule planning skills

    P6 Written into the Contract

EPC and mining contracts frequently name Primavera P6 as the required scheduling tool and format, so teams need planners who can produce compliant, submission-ready P6 schedules.

    P6 builds contractual scheduling skills

    Integrated Cost and Schedule Control

Owners want cost and schedule joined up, not tracked in separate spreadsheets. Resource and cost loading with earned value in P6 closes that gap and sharpens forecasting.

P6 builds cost-loading and EVM skills

    Rail and Corridor Complexity

Cross-border work like the Lobito Corridor demands portfolio-grade coordination across many contractors, exactly the multi-project scheduling P6 EPPM is built to manage.

    P6 builds programme coordination skills

    Power and Utilities Delivery

Utility capital programmes for generation and grid infrastructure need reliable baselines and progress control, the core P6 skills that keep energy projects accountable.

    P6 builds capital-project control skills

    Local Planning Skills Shortage

Zambia's project pool is deep in engineers but thin in confident P6 planners. Practical P6 proficiency is a scarce, sought-after skill on capital projects.

P6 skills make planners stand out

Oracle Primavera P6 training is a practical, hands-on software course that teaches you to plan, schedule and control projects using Primavera P6, the enterprise project portfolio management application. It suits planners, schedulers, project engineers and project controls professionals in mining, construction, energy and infrastructure.

Is Primavera P6 worth learning in Zambia?

Yes. Primavera P6 is the scheduling tool specified on most large capital projects in Zambia, from Copperbelt mine expansions to national road, rail and power programmes. Confident P6 skills are scarce and in demand, making the training a strong practical investment for your career.

Why choose Invensis Learning for Primavera P6 training?

Invensis Learning is an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2022 certified global provider offering hands-on, instructor-led P6 training with experienced trainers and flexible delivery. You learn through realistic project exercises and get support before, during and after the course.

What levels of Primavera P6 training are available?

The training runs at two levels. Fundamentals is a 2-day, 16-hour programme for new or occasional P6 users. Advanced is a 3-day, 24-hour programme for experienced users covering resource and cost loading, earned value, schedule comparison and multi-project management. You can take either level or both.

Do I need prior experience to start?

No. The Fundamentals level has no formal prerequisites and is designed for people new to Primavera P6. Familiarity with basic project concepts helps but is not required. For the Advanced level, you should have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on P6 experience.

    Pricing

How much does Primavera P6 training cost in Zambia?

Fees vary by level, delivery format and group size, so pricing is available on request. Your enrolment includes instructor-led sessions, hands-on P6 exercises, courseware and learner support. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options for individuals and teams.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically covers instructor-led training, structured courseware, hands-on P6 exercises using realistic scenarios, learner support and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Ask us for the exact inclusions for your chosen level and format.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for planning cells, project controls departments and PMOs. Contact us for a tailored quote for your team.

Do I need a Primavera P6 licence for the training?

You should have access to Primavera P6, either P6 Professional or P6 EPPM, to follow the hands-on exercises. Primavera P6 is a separate Oracle product. Check with us whether a training environment is provided or whether you arrange your own P6 access before the course.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the Primavera P6 training?

No. This is a practical, non-certification course with no exam at either level. Your learning is reinforced through live, hands-on Primavera P6 exercises throughout the programme, so you build real software proficiency as you go.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

Learning is assessed informally through guided P6 exercises using realistic project scenarios. You work in P6 alongside the trainer at each step, which lets you check your understanding and build confidence rather than prepare for a formal test.

Do I receive anything on completion?

Yes. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that records your Primavera P6 training. It confirms the skills you have built, though it is a completion record rather than a formal certification.

Will I be able to build a real schedule after the course?

Yes. After Fundamentals you can create a project, build activity logic, schedule with F9, assign resources, set a baseline and track progress. After Advanced you can cost load, report earned value, compare schedules and manage multiple projects in P6 EPPM.

How long are the training days?

Fundamentals is 16 hours in total and Advanced is 24 hours in total. Both are available as full-day sessions or as extended half-day formats, so you can pick the schedule that fits your work commitments.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the Primavera P6 training?

You learn to build the enterprise project structure and WBS, create activities and relationships, run the scheduler and read the critical path, assign resources and costs, set baselines, update progress, and at Advanced level run earned value, Claim Digger and multi-project management.

What does the Fundamentals level cover?

Fundamentals covers the P6 interface and enterprise structure, WBS and activity creation, relationships and scheduling, the critical path and float, resource assignment, baselining, progress updating, variance analysis and basic reports, all through hands-on exercises.

What does the Advanced level cover?

Advanced covers advanced scheduling options, resource and cost loading, cost accounts, earned value management, multiple baselines and Claim Digger, variance analysis, multi-project and enterprise portfolio management, and custom reporting with Excel integration.

Is the training hands-on or theory based?

It is hands-on throughout. You follow live demonstrations in Primavera P6 and complete practical exercises using realistic construction, engineering and capital project scenarios, so you build genuine software proficiency rather than just theory.

Does the training cover P6 EPPM as well as P6 Professional?

Yes. The Fundamentals and Advanced curriculum works across P6 Professional and covers P6 EPPM enterprise features, including multi-project scheduling, enterprise resource management and the web interface at the Advanced level.
