Why Microsoft Project Skills Pay off at WorkSkills You Apply from Day One

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Microsoft Project training helps you turn project plans into controlled, trackable schedules. You learn to set up a project, sequence tasks, assign resources and monitor progress, so plans hold up as scope and dates change. Whether you are moving off spreadsheets, stepping up from coordinator tasks, or supporting delivery in mining, construction, energy or IT, the course builds capability that maps to real Zambian project roles.

If you want to be the person who can build and defend a schedule, MS Project fluency is a practical, portable skill. You gain hands-on command of the tool through exercises based on realistic project scenarios.

    • Build dependency-linked schedules in Microsoft Project instead of fragile spreadsheets
    • Create a full work breakdown structure with summary tasks, subtasks and milestones
    • Assign work, material and cost resources and resolve over-allocation
    • Set baselines and track actual progress with the Tracking Gantt
    • Read the critical path to spot schedule risk and protect delivery dates
    • Generate built-in reports and dashboards for clear stakeholder updates
    • Move from spreadsheets to a tool Zambian employers actively request
    • Apply skills immediately on mining, construction, energy and IT projects
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Microsoft Project group training helps organisations build consistent, reliable project scheduling capability across delivery teams and PMOs. Teams learn a shared approach to planning, resourcing, tracking and reporting. For organisations running capital, infrastructure, energy or IT programmes, this creates a common scheduling language that improves visibility and control.

If your projects slip because plans are inconsistent or manual, standardising on MS Project gives your teams one dependable way to build, baseline and track schedules. Training can be tailored to your sector and delivered around work schedules.

    • Standardise how teams plan and report projects in Microsoft Project
    • Improve schedule reliability across mining, construction and IT programmes
    • Cut project slippage with baselines, tracking and critical-path control
    • Build in-house planning capability instead of relying on contractors
    • Train PMOs and delivery teams on real organisational project data
    • Deliver consistent resource and cost management across the portfolio
    • Choose flexible onsite, live virtual and blended delivery for teams in Zambia
    • Strengthen reporting to sponsors, boards and programme funders

Where Project Skills Lead in ZambiaRoles, Demand and Sectors Hiring

Microsoft Project skills rank among the most requested capabilities in Zambian project roles, where employers across mining, construction, energy, banking and IT commonly ask for hands-on MS Project or Primavera experience. Market Pressures Driving Demand for Scheduling Skills

    Copper Expansion and Capital Projects

Zambia targets over one million tonnes of copper in 2026 and three million by 2031. Scaling mines and plants demand disciplined scheduling that few planners can deliver in the tool.

    Build disciplined scheduling skills

    Rail and Corridor Megaprojects

The critical minerals rail corridor is being built between 2026 and 2030 with multiple international contractors, requiring portfolio-grade scheduling, dependencies and risk coordination at scale.

    Learn dependency and risk coordination

    Power and Energy Rollout

With over 740MW of new solar capacity and major grid connection programmes underway, tight, dependency-linked schedules are essential to bring plants online on time.

    Deliver plants on time

    Skilled Planner Shortage

Zambia faces a critical shortage of skilled project and programme managers, so professionals who can plan and control schedules in Microsoft Project stand out to employers.

    Stand out to employers

    Donor and Public-Sector Programmes

Road, hospital and district infrastructure programmes funded by government and donors demand accurate baselines, progress tracking and reporting that scheduling tools provide.

    Master baselines and tracking

    The Tool-Fluency Gap

Employers routinely ask for MS Project or Primavera skills, yet many candidates lack hands-on fluency. Practical training closes that gap and makes you immediately useful.

    The Microsoft Project Difference

Zambia's project pipeline in mining, energy, construction and IT is expanding fast, and employers increasingly separate professionals who can drive a schedule in Microsoft Project from those who cannot. Here is the shift this training delivers.

    Today

Job adverts list MS Project as required but you lack hands-on fluency

    After training

Ready for planner and project manager roles, where Lusaka project managers average around ZMW 165,500 a year

    Today

Schedules slip without any early warning

    After training

Use the critical path and baselines to flag slippage early and protect dates

    You master Microsoft Project

    Before

You build plans in spreadsheets that break every time scope or dates change

    Now you can

Build dynamic, dependency-linked schedules in Microsoft Project that update automatically

    Before

You can only update plans that other people build

    Now you can

Create the full work breakdown structure, set baselines and track progress on your own

    Before

Resource clashes go unnoticed until they hurt delivery

    Now you can

Spot and resolve over-allocation using resource views and levelling

    Before

Status updates are manual, slow and inconsistent

    Now you can

Generate built-in reports and dashboards straight from the tool

"In Zambia's biggest mining, power and construction projects, the planner who controls the schedule controls the project."

    Course Content

What will I learn in the Fundamentals level?

Fundamentals covers project setup and calendars, building the work breakdown structure, task dependencies and the critical path, creating and assigning resources, setting baselines, tracking progress with the Tracking Gantt, and generating built-in reports.

What does the Advanced level cover?

Advanced covers task types and advanced scheduling, resource pools and levelling, cost management and Earned Value, custom fields, views and reports, master projects and cross-project dependencies, and what-if scenario planning.

How long is each level of the training?

Fundamentals runs over two days, totalling 16 hours. Advanced runs over three days, totalling 24 hours. Both are available as full-day or extended half-day formats to suit your schedule.

Are there hands-on exercises in the course?

Yes. Both levels are highly practical. You follow along in Microsoft Project while the trainer demonstrates each feature, then practise using realistic project scenarios so the skills stick.

Do I need prior experience to attend?

Fundamentals needs no prior experience, though basic familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office helps. Advanced assumes you have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on experience using Microsoft Project.
