Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level credential proving you understand the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of project management. It is designed for students, graduates, career changers and project team members in Zambia who want to enter the profession, with no work experience required.

    General

What is the CAPM and who is it for?

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level credential proving you understand the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of project management. It is designed for students, graduates, career changers and project team members in Zambia who want to enter the profession, with no work experience required.

Is the CAPM worth it for professionals in Zambia?

Yes. The CAPM opens doors to project coordinator, administrator and PMO roles across mining, banking, telecom and infrastructure, where employers value a recognised standard. In Lusaka, project coordinator pay can reach around ZMW 156,000 at senior level, and the credential is a clear step toward higher project roles.

Do I need project experience to take the CAPM?

No. The CAPM is the only PMI practitioner credential that requires no project work experience. You need a secondary degree (such as a school certificate or global equivalent) and 23 hours of project management education, which this training provides in full.

Is the CAPM recognised by employers in Zambia?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the CAPM carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. Employers in Zambia's mining, financial services, telecom and development sectors recognise it as a credible signal of foundational project management knowledge.

How long is the CAPM valid and how is it renewed?

The CAPM is valid for three years. Unlike PMP and most other PMI credentials, you renew it by retaking and passing the CAPM exam within the cycle, not by earning PDUs. There is no PDU requirement for CAPM holders.

    Pricing

What is included in the CAPM training fee?

The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, the 23 hours of education PMI requires, practice questions, mock exams, chapter quizzes, first-attempt guidance and learner support with a course completion certificate. To see what your plan includes, request a quote from a learning advisor.

How much does CAPM training cost in Zambia?

Training pricing in Zambia depends on the format and schedule you choose and is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote in your preferred delivery mode, including live virtual and corporate group options.

How much is the CAPM exam fee?

The exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing, for reference around USD 225 for PMI members and USD 300 for non-members. Fees vary, so confirm current amounts at pmi.org. PMI membership can lower the exam cost and includes access to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams in mining, banking, telecom and other sectors. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The CAPM exam covers four domains from the 2023 CAPM Examination Content Outline: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%). It is aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition.

How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The CAPM exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and you have three hours (180 minutes) to complete it. It is closed book and uses single-answer and multiple-answer question formats.

Is there a fixed passing score for the CAPM?

No. PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Your result is determined through psychometric analysis of the scored questions and reported against the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery across fundamentals, predictive, agile and business analysis rather than a target percentage.

Where can I sit the CAPM exam in Zambia?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website once your application is approved.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly, and a re-examination fee applies to later attempts.

    Course Content

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

No. The course is built for beginners and career changers. It starts from project fundamentals and builds up through predictive, agile and business analysis skills, with practice activities and support throughout, so no prior project experience is needed.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The training is aligned to the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023 and the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, alongside PMI's Agile Practice Guide. This keeps your preparation matched to the current exam.

How many training hours does the course provide?

The programme provides 24 hours of instructor-led project management education, which exceeds PMI's 23-hour requirement and fully satisfies the CAPM education prerequisite. The number of days varies with the daily schedule you choose.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. You get CAPM practice questions, full-length mock exams and chapter-wise quizzes mapped to the four exam domains, so you can identify weak areas and build readiness before exam day.

Will I get a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate confirming the 24 contact hours, which count toward the education PMI requires for the CAPM exam.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website, choose your format and complete payment to receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. New live virtual batches run regularly. Talk to a learning advisor to see upcoming dates for Zambia.

    What training formats are available?

Does the training meet the CAPM education requirement?

Yes. The 24-hour programme exceeds PMI's mandatory 23 hours of project management education and fully satisfies the education prerequisite, so you finish eligible to apply for and sit the CAPM exam.

    Can I reschedule my batch?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include a Flexi Pass to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.
