    The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. Named for its house-like shape, it links customer requirements to measurable engineering characteristics across six rooms, from the relationship matrix to the correlation roof, competitive benchmarking and engineering targets.

    Is QFD relevant to both product and service design?

    Yes. QFD began in manufacturing but applies anywhere customer needs must become specifications. The course covers applications in services such as healthcare, financial services and software, as well as product development.

    Is there an exam for this QFD course?

    No. This is a practical, non-certification skills course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the programme.

    What will I receive on completing the training?

    You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. The training builds practical QFD and House of Quality skills that you can apply immediately to product development, service design and improvement projects.

    How is learning assessed during the course?

    There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply what you learn through practical activities, including building a House of Quality, calculating column importance, and identifying design hot spots and conflicts.

    Will I be able to apply QFD at work straight away?

    Yes. By the end of the programme you can facilitate a Voice of the Customer workshop, build and interpret a House of Quality, and cascade requirements through the four QFD phases on your own products or services.

    Does QFD support Design for Six Sigma work?

    Yes. QFD is a core tool in the DFSS DMADV Measure phase and the DMAIC Define phase. The course shows how the House of Quality outputs feed CTQ flow-down and concept selection in improvement and design projects.

    Course Content

    What topics are covered in the QFD training?

    The course covers QFD foundations and the business case, Voice of the Customer capture, the Kano model, full House of Quality construction across six rooms, HoQ interpretation, four-phase QFD cascading, and QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design.

    How long is the training?

    The programme is delivered in one day (eight hours), with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on House of Quality exercises running throughout. A two half-day format is also available.

    Are the sessions hands-on?

    Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout, including VOC structuring with an affinity diagram, Kano classification, full House of Quality construction from a realistic scenario, and column importance calculation.

    What materials are provided?

    You receive structured course materials, House of Quality templates, worked examples and reference guides that support the exercises and help you apply QFD after the training.

    Does the course cover the full four-phase QFD cascade?

    Yes. Beyond the House of Quality, the course covers parts deployment, process planning and production control, so you can trace a requirement from customer need all the way to a production quality control.
