    What Our Learners Say

    Untitled

A Design Toolkit I Use Every Week

"The DMADV structure finally connected the tools I half-knew. I now run a proper QFD and CTQ flow-down before we lock a concept, and our early design reviews are far sharper. The DFMEA exercise alone changed how our team ranks design risk."

    VOC to CTQ Made Simple

"Very practical training. Capturing Voice of the Customer with the Kano model and turning it into measurable CTQs was the missing link for me. I applied the House of Quality to a live project the following week and the targets were much clearer."

    Robust Design Finally Clicked

"As an R&D engineer I knew DMAIC but not its design counterpart. The robust design and P-diagram sessions helped me think about noise factors properly, and the verification and validation distinction cleared up something I had confused for years."

Onsite Training That Fit Our Products

"We ran this onsite for our product engineering group. The trainer tailored the QFD and DFMEA exercises to our own components, so the team left with real work in progress, not just theory. Design changes late in our projects have already dropped."

A Shared Method Across Our Teams

"Rolling out DFSS gave our R&D and quality teams a shared DMADV language. Design verification and the design scorecard now sit in our stage-gate process, which matters for our design control obligations. A well-structured, business-relevant programme."

Is there an exam for DFSS training?

No. Design for Six Sigma is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises, case study examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Will I receive a certificate after the course?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after completing the programme. This recognises your participation and the practical DFSS skills you have built; it is not an external certification, as the course does not have one.

How is learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply the DMADV tools through practical exercises, such as a VOC to CTQ flow-down, a QFD House of Quality, a Pugh selection matrix and a DFMEA worksheet, using realistic design scenarios throughout the day.

    Is DFSS an accredited certification?

No. DFSS training is a vendor-neutral, practical skills programme with no governing body or certification exam. It focuses on building the design-quality methodology and tools you can apply immediately, rather than preparing you for a credential.

What will I be able to do after completing the training?

You will be able to apply the DMADV roadmap to a design project, capture and analyse VOC using the Kano model, flow customer needs down to CTQs, build a QFD House of Quality, run a Pugh concept selection and a Design FMEA, apply robust design thinking, and plan design verification and validation.

    Course Content

What topics does the DFSS course cover?

The course covers six modules across the DMADV roadmap: DFSS foundations and DMADV, the Define phase (VOC and Kano), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept generation, Pugh matrix and DFMEA), the Design phase (robust design, P-diagram and DFMA), and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

What tools will I learn to use?

You will learn Voice of the Customer capture, the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment (the House of Quality), the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA with RPN, the P-diagram, Taguchi robust design and the design scorecard.

    How long is the training?

The programme is delivered in one day (8 hours), covering all six DMADV phases with concept explanations, real-world design case studies and hands-on tool exercises. An extended two half-day format is also available.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Practical exercises run throughout the day, so you apply VOC to CTQ flow-down, build a QFD House of Quality, use a Pugh selection matrix and complete a DFMEA worksheet on realistic product or process design scenarios.

Does the course cover DOE and Taguchi methods?

Yes, at awareness level within the Design phase. You explore how Design of Experiments and Taguchi robust design help you find control-factor settings that make a design insensitive to noise, without going into full statistical depth.
