What is the PMP certification?

The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the flagship credential of the Project Management Institute (PMI). It validates your ability to lead projects and teams using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches, and it is recognized in over 200 countries as the global standard for project managers.

Who should take this training?

It suits professionals who already lead project work: project managers, team and functional leads, engineers, consultants and PMO staff. In Puerto Rico it is especially relevant to people delivering validation and capital projects in pharmaceutical and medical device plants, grid and reconstruction work, and digital programs in banking.

Which standard is the current exam based on?

The exam follows PMI's Examination Content Outline, which is built on the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition and also draws on the Agile Practice Guide. Around half the content covers agile and hybrid delivery, reflecting how projects actually run.

How long is the certification valid?

The PMP is valid for three years. You maintain it by earning 60 professional development units (PDUs) within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area of the PMI Talent Triangle: Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen.

Is the credential recognized outside Puerto Rico?

Yes. The PMP is recognized in over 200 countries and appears in employer job specifications, client contracts and government procurement requirements worldwide, so it travels with you if you move to the mainland or abroad.

The fee covers instructor-led sessions, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams and exam simulator access, downloadable templates, guidance on the PMI application, and post-training support. How much does the PMP training cost in Puerto Rico?

Pricing depends on the format you choose, live online, classroom or corporate group delivery, and is available on request. Because Puerto Rico bills in US dollars, there is no currency conversion to worry about. Talk to a learning advisor for a quote that fits your schedule.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the course price?

No. PMI charges the exam fee separately and you pay it directly to PMI when you apply. PMI members pay less than non-members, and membership also gives you access to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide. Confirm current fees at pmi.org before you apply.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, so a first attempt that falls short is not the end of the road. Your score report shows performance by domain, and our trainers help you target the weak areas. A reexamination fee applies to the second and third attempts.

How many questions are on the PMP exam?

The exam has 180 questions and runs for 230 minutes, including two scheduled 10-minute breaks. It uses several formats: multiple choice with single and multiple answers, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blank questions.

What are the exam domains and their weightings?

The exam covers five domains: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (15%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (28%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (27%), Business Analysis and Strategic Management (18%), and Stakeholder Engagement and Communication (12%).

What is the passing score for the PMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The passing standard is set through psychometric analysis, and your result is reported as pass or fail with domain feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where can I sit the exam in Puerto Rico?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system from home or the office, or at a Pearson VUE test center. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website once your application is approved.

Am I eligible to sit the exam?

There are two routes. With a four-year degree you need 36 months of leading projects plus 35 contact hours of project management education. With a high school diploma or associate degree you need 60 months of leading projects plus the same 35 contact hours. The training provides that education requirement.

Course Content

Can I take this course without a formal project manager title?

Yes. PMI defines leading projects by what you do, not what your business card says, so team leads and functional leads who manage scope, schedule and resources qualify. The course starts from fundamentals before moving into the harder domains, and trainers work through scenarios with you.

What topics does the PMP training cover?

The syllabus follows the five exam domains: fundamentals and core concepts, predictive plan-based methodologies, agile frameworks, business analysis and strategic management, and stakeholder engagement and communication. It also covers exam strategy and the PMI application.

Does the course cover agile as well as traditional methods?

Yes, and substantially. Agile frameworks account for 27% of the exam, and you will work through Scrum roles, events and artifacts, Kanban and flow, Lean thinking, and hybrid models that combine agile with plan-based governance.

What materials and practice resources are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions mapped to the 180-question exam format, full-length mock exams, exam simulator access, chapter quizzes and downloadable project management templates you can use at work.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest exam outline?

Yes. The content is mapped to PMI's current Examination Content Outline, which is based on the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, so you prepare against the domains and weightings the exam actually uses.
