Is the PMI-CP worth it for professionals in Puerto Rico?

Is the PMI-CP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. It is particularly valued in international construction markets where clients seek recognised project management credentials.

How is the PMI-CP different from the PMP?

The PMP is a broad project management credential across all industries, while the PMI-CP specialises in construction, with Contracts Management its largest domain at 50%. The two are complementary, and a PMP is not required before the PMI-CP.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. You renew it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

What is included in the PMI-CP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, module and application guidance, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does the PMI-CP exam cost?

For reference, the PMI exam fee is around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; prices vary by region, so verify current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership, about USD 139 a year, lowers the exam fee and gives access to resources.

Are the four mandatory modules included in the fee?

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO). It covers four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It uses single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats and is delivered closed book.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

You must complete all four mandatory self-paced modules and meet one experience set: 60 months construction PM experience with a secondary diploma, 36 months with a bachelor's degree, or 24 months with a GAC-accredited degree, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply per attempt. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you prepare with confidence.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can take it online via Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your eligibility window.

Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four ECO domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance, plus guidance on the four mandatory modules and exam strategy, all referencing the PMBOK Guide.

Do I need construction experience to take the training?

You can join the training at any stage, but to sit the exam PMI requires construction project management experience and 35 contact hours of PM education. Our trainers help you map your experience to the eligibility requirements.

What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams, templates and quizzes to support your preparation.

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you identify and strengthen weak areas.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and its four domains, and references the PMBOK Guide as the underlying project management standard.
