How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. Results are reported with domain-level performance feedback rather than a fixed percentage score.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, so focus on broad mastery across the five domains: Strategic Alignment, Governance, Portfolio Performance, Portfolio Risk Management and Communications Management.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential.

How do I schedule and book the PfMP exam?

After your application is approved and you clear the panel review, schedule the exam through Pearson VUE, either at a test centre or via OnVUE online proctoring, within your one-year eligibility period.

Do I need prior experience to take PfMP training?

Anyone can attend the training, and it is structured to support senior learners. To sit the PfMP exam, PMI requires substantial experience, so the course also guides you on documenting your portfolio experience for the application and panel review.

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus the application, panel review and exam strategy.
