The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level project management credential. It shows you understand the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project management. What is the CAPM certification and who is it for?

Is the CAPM worth it for a project career in Puerto Rico?

Yes. As pharma, medical device, technology and reconstruction projects grow more complex in Puerto Rico, employers increasingly want early-career staff who hold a recognised PMI credential. CAPM opens coordinator, administrator and analyst roles and sets you up to progress towards the PMP later.

Do I need work experience to take the CAPM?

No. CAPM is the only PMI practitioner credential that requires no project management work experience. You only need a secondary degree (high school diploma or global equivalent) and 23 hours of project management education, which this training provides in full.

Is the CAPM recognised in Puerto Rico?

Yes. As a PMI credential, CAPM carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. Employers across Puerto Rico's pharmaceutical, medical device, IT and financial sectors recognise it as a credible entry-level project management credential.

How long is the CAPM valid and how do I renew it?

CAPM is valid for three years from the date of certification. Unlike the PMP, you renew it by retaking and passing the CAPM exam within the three-year cycle, not by earning PDUs.

How much does CAPM training cost in Puerto Rico?

How much is the CAPM exam fee?

PMI bills the CAPM exam fee separately from training. For reference, it is around USD 225 for PMI members and USD 300 for non-members, though figures vary, so confirm the current fee at pmi.org before you apply.

What if I do not pass the CAPM on the first attempt?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our practice questions, mock exams and domain-wise revision are built to help you pass the first time and to prepare you quickly if a retake is needed.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The CAPM exam covers four domains from the 2023 Examination Content Outline: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts, Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies, Agile Frameworks/Methodologies, and Business Analysis Frameworks. It spans predictive, agile and hybrid approaches.

How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The CAPM exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and lasts three hours (180 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer question formats.

Is there a fixed passing score for the CAPM exam?

No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with performance feedback across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery of all four.

Where can I take the CAPM exam?

You can take the CAPM exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through Pearson VUE or the PMI portal within your eligibility period.

Which standard is the CAPM exam based on?

The CAPM exam is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023, aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide. Our courseware follows this current standard throughout.

What will I learn in the CAPM training?

You will learn project management fundamentals, predictive plan-based delivery, agile and hybrid ways of working, and business analysis basics, mapped to the four CAPM domains. You also cover core tools such as the WBS, critical path and earned value.

Does this training meet the 23-hour education requirement?

Yes. The programme delivers 24 contact hours of instructor-led training, which exceeds the 23 hours of project management education PMI requires and fully satisfies the CAPM education prerequisite.

What learning resources are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, topic-wise quizzes and revision aids. These resources help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 150-question exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest CAPM syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023 and the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition, so you study the current exam content and terminology.
