What Is the PMI Construction Professional Credential?UntitledA Specialist Path for Construction Leaders

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is the Project Management Institute's specialist credential for professionals who deliver construction and capital projects. PMI-CP certification training in Poland prepares you to apply proven project management practice across the full construction lifecycle, from pre-construction through closeout, and to lead complex builds on time, on budget and to the required standard. The certification is built on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO), which structures the exam around four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). It also draws on the current edition of the PMBOK Guide and construction-specific standards, so what you learn maps directly to how modern projects are run. With Poland's construction market set to exceed PLN 400 billion in 2026 on the back of record EU and KPO funding, employers such as Budimex, Skanska and Strabag increasingly value globally recognised construction project management credentials. Whether you are a site manager stepping up, a PMP holder specialising, or an owner's representative, the PMI-CP gives your construction expertise formal, transferable recognition. Start your PMI-CP journey with Invensis Learning.

Why Poland Needs Certified Construction Leaders Now

Record EU and KPO Funding Wave

PMI-CP builds delivery discipline for funded builds

PMI-CP makes certified construction leaders stand out

    Rising Costs and Contract Risk

High material and contractor costs sharpen the need for disciplined contract, claims and change management, the largest domain in the PMI-CP framework at 50% of the exam.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims capability

    Mega-Projects Raise Complexity

Flagship programmes such as CPK and road and rail expansion demand portfolio-grade coordination, risk aggregation and stakeholder engagement across many contractors.

PMI-CP builds coordination and risk skills

    Housing and Residential Pressure

Residential construction leads market growth as housing shortages and subsidy schemes drive demand, stretching delivery teams and their scope and governance capability.

PMI-CP strengthens scope and schedule control

    Global Credibility for Local Firms

Polish contractors bidding on EU-funded and cross-border work increasingly seek globally recognised project management credentials to win and de-risk contracts.

Poland's construction market is expanding on record EU and KPO funding, and employers increasingly separate certified construction leaders from the rest. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    Today

Pay capped without a recognised construction project management credential

    After PMI-CP

Passed over for senior construction roles that list PMI-CP as preferred

    After PMI-CP

Eligible for contracts manager, senior PM and capital projects director roles

Strong on site delivery, but light on portfolio-level governance

    After PMI-CP

Fluent in contracts, governance and stakeholder engagement across the lifecycle

    You earn your PMI-CP

    Before

Construction authority rests on experience, not a formal credential

    Now you have

A PMI credential recognised by leading Polish and global contractors

    Before

Recognition limited when you change employer or country

    Now you have

A globally portable credential valued across EU-funded and cross-border work

    Before

General project skills without construction-specific depth

    Now you have

Specialist command of the full construction project lifecycle

    Before

Contract disputes and change orders handled reactively

    Now you have

Structured contract, claims and change management from award to closeout

"The gap between running a site and leading construction delivery is increasingly a recognised credential, and the employers that matter already know it."

This PMI-CP training builds practical command of the four construction domains in the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline. By the end, you can administer contracts, engage stakeholders, control scope and govern delivery on complex construction projects.

    Select Contracts and Delivery Methods

Assess contract types and delivery methods, from lump sum and GMP to design-build, EPC and IPD, and advise on the risk allocation each structure carries. This is the heart of Contracts Management, the largest PMI-CP domain at 50% of the exam.

    Administer Contracts, Variations and Claims

Set Project Strategy, Scope and Baselines

Develop the project execution plan, define and baseline scope, and control changes, schedule, budget, risk and quality. Strategy and Scope Management accounts for 15% of the exam and keeps delivery aligned to intent.

    Govern Projects and Ensure Compliance

Establish governance frameworks, reporting and decision rights, run project audits and health checks, and maintain regulatory and ethical compliance. Project Governance completes the four domains at 5% of the exam.

Prepare for the PMI-CP Application and Exam

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

PMI-CP is PMI's credential for professionals delivering construction projects. It validates project management across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). It suits construction project managers and owner's representatives.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Poland?

Yes. With Poland's construction market set to exceed PLN 400 billion in 2026 on record EU and KPO funding, employers value construction-specific credentials. Construction project managers average around PLN 200,000 a year, with senior roles reaching PLN 268,000 and director bands higher. Speak with a learning advisor to plan your route.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in Poland?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is valued by leading Polish and international contractors such as Budimex, Skanska and Strabag, particularly on EU-funded and cross-border projects.

How is the PMI-CP different from the PMP?

The PMP is a broad project management credential across all industries. The PMI-CP is a specialist construction credential, with Contracts Management as its largest domain at 50%, reflecting the centrality of contracts, administration and disputes in construction. The two are complementary, and many construction professionals hold both.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, reported through PMI's CCR system.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, single-answer and multiple-answer, based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide. It is delivered online proctored via Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. The questions are distributed across the four construction domains per the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting how central contracts and claims are to construction delivery.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can take the exam online via Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website after your application is approved.

How many attempts do I get and what if I do not pass?

You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. PMI reports results with domain-level feedback, and re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our preparation is designed to get you exam-ready first time.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-CP training?

The training covers the four construction domains in the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management and Project Governance, plus guidance on the mandatory modules, the application and exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory PMI-CP course modules?

Before applying, all candidates complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Which standard is the PMI-CP course based on?

The course is built on the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO), supported by the current edition of the PMBOK Guide and construction-specific standards. This keeps the training aligned with what the exam and modern construction projects require.

Are there practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes, to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned, which support the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires for eligibility.

Eligibility has two parts. Part one: complete all four self-paced modules. Part two: meet one set of experience and education requirements, ranging from a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience to a degree with 36 or 24 months, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.
