What Is the PMI-RMP Certification?UntitledYour Specialist Credential in Project Risk

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential for professionals who identify, assess and control risk across projects and programmes. PMI-RMP certification training in Namibia gives you a structured, PMI-aligned path to earn it, whether you work in mining, uranium, offshore oil, green hydrogen, banking or public infrastructure. You prepare for the closed-book, 115-question exam across five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. Why Project Risk Skills Are in Demand Across Namibia

    Offshore Oil Megaproject Risk

TotalEnergies' Venus discovery is moving toward a final investment decision, Namibia's first deepwater development. Projects of this scale demand formal, structured project risk management.

PMI-RMP builds risk strategy and analysis skills

    Uranium Restart and Expansion

With Rossing and Swakop running, Langer Heinrich restarted and Deep Yellow's Tumas in construction, uranium capital projects need practitioners who can control cost, schedule and safety risk.

PMI-RMP builds identification and response skills

    Green Hydrogen First-Of-A-Kind Risk

Hyphen and Cleanergy are building green hydrogen projects with no local precedent. First-of-a-kind programmes carry high uncertainty that rewards disciplined risk quantification and response planning.

PMI-RMP builds quantitative risk analysis skills

    Financial-Sector Compliance Pressure

As the FIM Act rolls out and Namibia exits the FATF grey list, banks and insurers face rising compliance and controls demands, increasing the need for structured project risk skills.

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises your ability to identify and assess project risks, mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities, and it sets you apart from general project management practitioners.

It suits project risk specialists, senior project managers, programme and PMO professionals, risk consultants and engineers or finance professionals in high-risk sectors. Anyone responsible for managing uncertainty on projects and programmes benefits from the structured PMI method.

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your project risk management experience and education. Many holders do hold both, as the two credentials are highly complementary.

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years from the date of certification. You renew it by earning 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) system.

    General

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Namibia?

Yes. The PMI-RMP is a globally recognised PMI credential that validates specialist project risk expertise, and demand is rising across Namibia's mining, uranium, offshore oil, green hydrogen, banking and infrastructure sectors. It opens roles from risk analyst to project risk manager and head of risk, where senior bands are among the higher-paying in the market.

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises your ability to identify and assess project risks, mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities, and it sets you apart from general project management practitioners.

    Is PMP required before PMI-RMP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your project risk management experience and education. Many holders do hold both, as the two credentials are highly complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how is it renewed?

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support with a completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI. For a tailored quote, request one from our team.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

PMI bills the exam fee separately under regional pricing, and current figures should be confirmed on pmi.org before you apply. PMI members pay less than non-members, and membership can also reduce renewal costs and give access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid directly to PMI and is not part of the training fee. We can guide you through membership options and the application so you understand the full cost before you book. Ask a learning advisor for details.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project teams, PMOs and risk functions across Namibia. Contact us for a group quote tailored to your team size and delivery format.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Corporate invoicing is available for organisations enrolling teams. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is closed book with 115 multiple-choice questions, including single-answer and multiple-answer formats. You have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. It is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and weights?

The exam covers five domains from the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%). Together they cover the full project risk life cycle.

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP?

PMI does not publish a fixed numeric pass mark. The passing score is set through psychometric analysis, and results are reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement by domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where can I sit the PMI-RMP exam?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE once your application is approved.

What if I do not pass the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and re-examination fees apply to later attempts. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer support are designed to build your readiness so you can approach the exam with confidence.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-RMP training?

You will learn the full project risk life cycle: setting risk strategy, identifying threats and opportunities, running qualitative and quantitative analysis, planning and implementing responses, and monitoring and closing risks, all mapped to the five PMI-RMP domains.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

You can join the training without meeting the PMI exam prerequisites, and the course is structured to build your understanding step by step. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience and education under Set A, B or C, which we help you confirm.

Which risk tools and techniques are covered?

The programme covers identification techniques such as SWOT, the Delphi technique and assumption analysis, qualitative probability and impact assessment, and quantitative tools including Monte Carlo simulation, decision-tree analysis, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value.

Is the training aligned to the current PMI-RMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, covering risk in predictive, agile and hybrid project environments.

Does the training meet PMI's education requirement?

The programme provides 32 contact hours of project risk management education, which fully satisfies the 30-hour requirement for Set B and Set C applicants. Set A applicants need 40 hours and should add at least 8 further hours of risk education.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the PMI-RMP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. To see upcoming batches, talk to a learning advisor.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the exam?

PMI offers three sets: Set A (secondary diploma, 36 months of risk experience, 40 hours of education), Set B (degree, 24 months, 30 hours) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree, 12 months, 30 hours). Experience must be specifically in project risk management within the last five years.

What training formats are available in Namibia?

We offer live virtual instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customised corporate group training, so professionals across Namibia can choose the format that fits their schedule. Live online delivery lets you train without travelling to Windhoek.

How soon can I start the training?

New batches run regularly across live online and corporate formats. Once you enrol, you receive immediate access to schedules and resources so you can begin preparing right away. Contact a learning advisor to see the next available cohort.

    Can I reschedule my enrolment?

Yes. Selected plans let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and some include a pass to attend the training twice. Reach out to our support team to arrange a change that works for you.
