    How many exams are in the combined programme?

    There are two separate exams: the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You must sit and pass both to hold both credentials. The 32-hour programme prepares you for each level in turn.

    What is the format of each BA exam?

    Each exam is closed book with 40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. Foundation uses straightforward single-answer questions testing knowledge, while Practitioner uses scenario-based questions that test how you apply BA techniques.

    What is the passing score for the BA exams?

    The passing score is 65% for both exams, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. This applies to the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam alike.

    Do I need to pass Foundation before Practitioner?

    The EXIN BCS Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level. The combined programme is designed to be taken in sequence, with Foundation covered first and Practitioner second.

    Where can I take the BA exams?

    Both exams can be taken online through EXIN's online proctored system, or at an EXIN accredited testing location. They are typically arranged through your accredited training provider as part of the programme.

    What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

    The Foundation level covers 14 topic areas including investigation techniques, stakeholder analysis, process and requirements modelling, and business case development. The Practitioner level applies these across seven scenario-based topic areas from strategic context to building the business case.

    How long is the training programme?

    The combined programme is 32 hours of instructor-led training, typically covering Foundation content first and Practitioner content second. The number of days depends on the schedule format you choose, from intensive full-day to extended part-day sessions.

    Do I need prior experience to take this course?

    No prior experience is required for the Foundation level, so beginners are welcome. Some business or IT exposure helps with the Practitioner scenarios, and the training and case studies build the applied confidence you need.

    You receive EXIN BCS-aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies, practice questions and mock exams for both Foundation and Practitioner levels, plus learner support throughout the programme.
