Market Forces Fuelling Construction PM Demand in Namibia

    Energy Megaproject Complexity

PMI-CP builds contract administration and claims skills

    Certified Construction PM Shortage

Namibia has a deep pool of site and engineering talent but few professionals holding a globally recognised construction project management credential, making PMI-CP holders rare and sought-after.

    Infrastructure and Port Expansion

A deepwater port at Angra Point plus new roads, rail and transmission lines require scope discipline, schedule control and cross-programme coordination across many contractors and authorities.

    General

Is the PMI-CP certification worth it in Namibia?

Yes. PMI-CP validates construction project management skill and is increasingly valued on Namibia's oil and gas, green hydrogen, mining and infrastructure builds. Construction project manager roles average around N$424,900 a year, with contracts and director bands reaching higher, so certified leaders are well positioned in a growing market.

What is the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP)?

The PMI-CP is PMI's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to apply project management skills in a construction environment across four domains: Contracts Management (50 percent), Stakeholder Engagement (30 percent), Strategy and Scope Management (15 percent) and Project Governance (5 percent).

    Who should take PMI-CP training?

It suits construction project managers, site managers, project engineers, owner's representatives and PMO professionals in construction. PMP holders working in construction often add PMI-CP to prove construction-specific expertise. It is an advanced specialist credential for experienced practitioners.

    Is PMI-CP recognised in Namibia?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries. It is valued in international construction markets like Namibia, where energy, mining and infrastructure clients seek globally recognised project management credentials.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within the three-year cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each of the three areas.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Namibia?

Instructor-led PMI-CP training fees vary by format and schedule, and are available on request. The training fee is separate from the PMI exam fee, which PMI bills in USD. Request a quote or speak with a learning advisor for current pricing and group rates.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions and mock tests mapped to the exam, guidance on the four mandatory modules and the PMI application, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

For reference, the PMI-CP exam fee is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members; actual prices vary, so verify at pmi.org. PMI individual membership (about USD 139 a year) reduces the exam cost and gives access to PMI resources.

Do the four mandatory modules cost extra?

Yes. The four self-paced PMI-CP course modules are purchased through PMI, and pricing varies by region and membership status. They are separate from Invensis Learning's exam-prep training. Completing all four awards 56 PDUs applicable to renewal.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for contractors, owner organisations and project teams in Namibia. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with 120 multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

How long is the PMI-CP exam?

You have 230 minutes, which is 3 hours 50 minutes, to complete the 120 questions. Results are reported with domain-level performance feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What domains does the PMI-CP exam cover?

Four domains per the official ECO: Contracts Management (50 percent), Stakeholder Engagement (30 percent), Strategy and Scope Management (15 percent) and Project Governance (5 percent). Contracts management is the largest, reflecting the centrality of contracts in construction.

What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-CP?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced modules and meet one experience set: Set A (secondary diploma plus 60 months construction PM experience), Set B (bachelor's degree plus 36 months), or Set C (GAC-accredited degree plus 24 months). All sets need 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score and how many attempts do I get?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score, so no fixed percentage is published. Focus on mastery across all four domains. You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four exam domains: contract types and administration, claims, risk and insurance, stakeholder and regulatory engagement, scope, schedule and cost baselining, and project governance, plus guidance on the mandatory modules and exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory PMI-CP modules?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced PMI modules in any order, each a 6 to 10 hour commitment awarding 14 PDUs: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Together they award 56 PDUs.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 hours of PM education required across all eligibility sets. Check with our advisors on whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

Are practice tests and materials included?

Yes. The programme includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions and mock tests mapped to the 120-question exam format, plus references to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and Handbook to guide your preparation.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and grounded in the PMBOK Guide and construction industry standards, so you prepare against the content PMI actually tests.
