Market Forces Fuelling Demand for Certified Construction Leaders

    Contract and Claims Complexity

LNG, mining and infrastructure packages in Mozambique run on complex contracts and variations, where weak administration drives disputes. PMI-CP puts contracts management, its largest domain, at the centre of delivery.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims capability

    Megaproject Delivery Under Pressure

The restarted USD 20bn Mozambique LNG project and corridor works demand tight scope, schedule and cost control across thousands of workers. Certified leaders help keep complex packages on track.

PMI-CP builds scope and schedule control

    Scarce Certified Construction Leaders

Mozambique has a growing pool of site talent but few construction project managers with a globally recognised, exam-based credential. PMI-CP holders are rare and sought after by major employers.

PMI-CP makes certified leaders stand out

    Local Content and Capability Building

Local content commitments channel over USD 4bn to Mozambican firms, raising the need for skilled national project leaders. PMI-CP helps professionals qualify for these high-value roles.

    PMI-CP supports local capability goals

    Stakeholder and Regulatory Coordination

Remote sites in Cabo Delgado, Tete and beyond involve owners, communities, regulators and financiers. PMI-CP's stakeholder engagement domain equips leaders to manage that complexity and keep a social licence to operate.

    PMI-CP builds stakeholder engagement skill

    Cost and Schedule Overrun Risk

Capital discipline on energy and mining projects punishes overruns and value leakage. PMI-CP builds the governance, risk and reporting practice employers rely on to protect project value.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a duration of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

The exam covers four domains per the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get and where can I sit the exam?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. The exam is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

Which standard is the PMI-CP exam based on?

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-CP training?

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), spanning contracts, claims, risk, scope, schedule, quality and governance across the construction lifecycle.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, all candidates complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Does this training meet the 35-hour education requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education required across all three eligibility sets. Check with us on supplementary self-study or pre-reading credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest edition?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, so you prepare against the standard the exam is built on.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

Eligibility has two parts. First, complete all four mandatory modules. Second, meet one experience set: Set A (secondary diploma, 60 months construction PM experience), Set B (bachelor's degree, 36 months) or Set C (GAC-accredited degree, 24 months), each with 35 contact hours of PM education.
